If you understood that you probably are. For those who randomly clicked on here, it means "Any speakers of Old English?" ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 18:24, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Ich doþ onlig spekeþ þe Middel Ængliss. How æver, Ich doþ bælieveþ þat Ich can and willian bæ of great servig to mine peoplen. Good. Oh, and it's "Ic", not "Ich". Anyways, I'd like you to help me by proofreading Babel:Ang/Eald Ænglisc (and later Babel:Ang) to make sure I haven't made any stupid mistakes. And that applies to anyone else who can read and/or speak Old English. ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 18:43, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Mae bæ so in Olden Ængliss, but Ich am an spekor of þe Middel Ængliss, and wæ quoþ "Ich" wiþ an "H". Æctualig, nay mae Ich do þat now, as Ich jast noticet þat þe kingdomen of Italis and Gærmanig art clæsheneþ wiþ in þe Collisæum of þe Wðrlde Cup, and Ich can nay misseþ þis. Laters...that was normal English. --Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 19:10, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Afterwards, check Babel:Ang if you can. ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 19:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
(Warning: No Old English ahead) It's half-time, so I'll take this opportunity to say a little something. What you've got on Babel:Ang reads a bit more like Middle English to me, but I'm no expert, so don't only take my word for it. I checked the Wikipedia entries (forgive me) for Old English and Middle English, and I am further convinced. But even if I'm right, I wouldn't alter it too much, since most English-speakers do have misconceptions of archaic English, the page plays into them well, it's consistent, and looks genuine. Aside from that, it may only need some fine tuning (if you know what I'm saying, eh? No, even I don't know what I'm saying). Anyways, I haven't checked Old English yet, but I plan to. (Old English-free zone ends here) Runneth, ye bloodig cur! --Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 19:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
I used wiktionary to check what the translations of the words were. Anyway, it'd be good if you stop speaking in proto-englishes, so I can understand it better. My final point is that Old and Middle Englishes seem very similar to a Modern English speaker, so you'd think that (about it being Middle English). ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 20:01, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, yeah, that's the point I was trying to make. I basically improvised that whole Middle English thing I was doing, so I really know nothing about it, and I don't think anyone will unless they're a linguist, historian, or something along that line. Also, two other points: 1.)You can't translate a language word for word (not saying you did) and expect to get it right. Gotta take into account syntax, verb forms, all that shite. But you probably knew that already. 2.) Sorry if my "proto-English" threw you off. I'm kinda keen to self-reference, but I guess I'd better stick to regular articles for that. Still, I like using þ and æ. --Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 20:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Ok... 1) I did know that, but I don't know much about EÆ grammar, 2) Who doesn't like using letters like "Æ"? ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 14:33, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Mistakes found so far

I just mentioned a few up top...--Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 19:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Movement of Babel:Ol to Babel:Ang

Can I make the point that Babel:Ol was going quite nicely until you coverted it to Anglo-Saxon old english. I think i will fork the project here and create a Babel:Mid or something similar as that is what mediaeval peoples spoke. Using the Cantebury tales as a refernce point, can I also tell you that Middel Englissh was after the introduction of Anglo-Norman, brought by William the Conquerer in 1066. 200 years later and english was once more prevalent - in what was known officialy as Chancery standard. I will be using this standard as the basis. Not to say I'm an expert on the topic. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC Icons-flag-gb.png MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. Double Sigh. 10:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

One thing - instead of sporking from an older version of Babel:Ang, id'd be better to use the Old English and translate into Middle English (Þagin → Þane, Eald → Auld, etc). ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 17:33, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

LangName_Ang?

I was thinking...what if we were to have a Language Template for Old English? I don't remeber seeing it on Uncyclopedia:Babel. Something like:

ang-3 þis Usor art abel to komtributeþ wiþ an æddvancedd knðlidg of Eald Ænglisc.

Whatever, I'm sure it's not linguistically-correct, but that can be altered. The Template itself can of course be made in Modern English, too, but I think this is a much better idea. Anyone vote For? --Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 16:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Let me add, though, that it'd be best if someone else makes it, or at the very least tells me how, for I am technologically retarded. It's a wonder how I've managed to stay alive so long. --Señor DiZtheGreat Honor me! CUN AOTM ( Worship me!) (Praise me!) (Join me!) AMEN! 17:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, the babel templates work on a way that the wording is in Modern English, so... I'll bring it up in another forum topic. ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 17:49, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Score: +2
For. And it'd read "Þis Usor cannan write wiþer an bigge cnewan of Eald Ænglisc." ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 17:26, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
That's cool. I like it. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC Icons-flag-gb.png MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. Double Sigh. 17:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
