Welcome![edit source]

WELCOME!
I'm sure you will like it here!

Hello, Salamander724, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left... yeah. You seem to have a sense of humor, but to be sure that it corresponds to the kind humor that is accepted on this site I suggest checking out the following links:

  • Beginner's Guide - A massive guide about how to be the best you can be at Uncyclopedia. I've honestly never read the whole thing in one sitting myself, but it is very useful if you're looking for help on a specific issue.
  • Our Vanity Policies - This page details why we don't care about your friends, your school, your gay fourth period math teacher, or the homework he has you do, and in-jokes. DO NOT violate this policy.
  • How to be funny and not just stupid - Our flagship link. This will tell you how to not get booed off the metaphorical stage that is Uncyclopedia. I STRONGLY suggest reading the entire thing through, perhaps more than once.
  • Uncyclopedia:Best of - For a bit of inspiration. These are our featured articles. This is the kind of stuff we like to read around here.

Now that that's out of the way, take a look to your right, and you'll notice some more links, these ones are about help in general:

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but I do recommend it, it can be quite enjoyable, and it's a good chance to let others take notice of your writing. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Salamander724/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian, and remember: Have fun with it. We're all here to have a good time and a good laugh. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button (Button sig.png) above the edit box. Again, welcome!

Foreign Office (Update)[edit source]

Hi Salamander, sorry to contact you here but Korea Uncyclopedia isn't working. Just to keep you up to date with what is happening with the Foreign Office. So far it has been a success; all sites with over 1,000 articles (with the exception of Sweden, Israel, Finland, the Czech Republic and Greece) have signed on to the project, and we have so far translated 4 articles.

  • To see a full list of countrys+ambassadors at present go here.
  • To see the list of articles completed since the Foreign Office started go here.

You will also notice that on the main page, in addition to the "Translation Suggestions" and "Translated Articles" there are now 2 discussion pages for each language, one for articles being translated from that language and one for articles being translated to that language, don't underestimate how useful these can be as a hub for translation in your language (and for people who want help translating from your language). Feel free to customise (add pictures/change formatting) of your sections of the main page and your discussion pages, they are your embassies within the Foreign Office hub.

The next stage is organising a chat for all the ambassadors, so it would be very helpful if (assuming you haven't already) you can go to The Assembly and down to where it says "Poll", then suggest/comment on what you think is best for a means of communication.

After this, when we have everyone's opinions in, we can consider organising a chat in which we can clarify and develop a few ideas and maybe discuss some collaborative projects and such.

Thanks, Siddhartha Wolf --

Roger, Siddhartha Wolf, I'm translating Korean FA into English. The monster of the biggest eyes ØSalamander (Talk / Contributions) 06:05, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Haha, it's very good, tell me when you're ready for me to check through it :) --El Sid, the lazy oneparlez-vous franglais? 08:50, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
But there is ICU template. ─┐─ ØSalamander (Talk / Contributions) 11:55, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
You mean it's ready to check? Or someone else put that there? --El Sid, the lazy oneparlez-vous franglais? 12:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I went through and "anglified" the content. I like what you're doing so far, I'll just need to make sure that it translates well (and I might need to add things to do this), I hope this is ok? --El Sid, the lazy oneparlez-vous franglais? 13:11, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Also I have moved it to your userpage until it's finished so it doesn't get ICU-ed again :) --El Sid, the lazy oneparlez-vous franglais? 14:56, 18 August 2009 (UTC) (it's at User:Salamander03/Big-Eyes-Monster

+/-[edit source]

Hi Salamander, well here "-" simply means "translated from" and "+" simply means "translated to" i.e. the "-" means you are taking away something, the "+" means you are adding to it. They're universal symbols so i thought I'd use them. So if you're wanting to translate something TO English go to "/+English" or to Korean "/+Korean".

If you want to write some guidelines from translations FROM Korean, do it in "-Korean".

Thanks :) --El Sid, the lazy oneparlez-vous franglais? 09:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
