Welcome to Uncyclopedia. A few quick notes: If you plan on writing, read How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid and the basics of editing. For a quick how-to on being a good community member, peruse the Beginner's Guide to being an Uncyclopedian. Try to make sure you're familiar with the rules and what Uncyclopedia is about. If you have questions, check out the help pages, post a note on my talk page, or have a look at the forums. Above all else, have fun, and try to hold onto your sanity. --Andorin Kato 04:02, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

On welcoming users[edit source]

I notice that you welcomed this guy and you did so using the code from my welcome template. Using my template is fine- anyone is welcome to copy it. But I wanted to show you something about the code and provide a suggestion.

Here's a snippet of the welcome you put on his page:

If you have questions, check out the help pages, post a note on my talk page, or have a look at the forums.

See the part I bolded? I wrote my welcome template myself, and for the sake of convenience I put a link to my talk page in the welcome. The problem here is that you're posting the welcome, but it's still linking to my talk page. Ideally it should be linking to your talk page (so the bolded part would be changed to my talk page)

Now for the suggestion: You can create your own welcome template if you want, even modifying mine if you wish. Steps:

  1. Visit my welcome template.
  2. Create this page in a new window.
  3. Copy and paste the code from my welcome template into yours, edit it as necessary, and hit Save.
  4. When you welcome a user, put exactly this onto their talk page: --~~~~
That code will place the welcome template on their talk page, along with your name and the date.
Also, don't forget to put something in the edit summary, like "Welcome to Uncyclopedia." Otherwise it defaults to 'Created page with " --~~~~"' and that looks a bit more artificial, if you understand me. If you have any questions, just ask here. I'll see them. -- 00:27, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I just welcomed "this guy" because she's my sister and she wanted all the handy links (HTBFANJS, etc...). But I understand what you mean, it's just that I din't realize there was a link to your talk page.

Now if I have to welcome another user I will do as you told, it looks handy enough.
