Please contribute to Baked Potato[edit]
Trying to get a new featured article to end the 12 nights of potato. It is Baked Potato. Please contribute in whatever way you like (be bold, add new sections, change text, add images). Would like to get it featured as rapidly as possible. ShabiDOO 23:09, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi Kevin. By close I meant "withdraw" the feature. I'd like to work on it and try a second attempt for VFH. So you ought not to feature it (it hasn't gotten sufficient votes and there is enough constructive criticsm to warrant reworking it. Thanks! Also...you are more than welcome to collaborate on the article with me (especially formatting but also content). ShabiDOO 10:20, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Semi-serious question[edit]
Is there an equivalent of revdel or oversight on Uncyclopedia? JJP...MASTER![talk to]JJP... master? 18:27, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- There is! A "revision deletion" system is used in a few cases here by administrators and bureaucrats, notably to hide IP addresses of users whom accidentally ended up logged out during an edit, or particularly flagrant cases of vandalism and/or spambottery. For example, the article "Information"'s history shows one edit that is rev-deleted: the edit was made by a spambot.
- An oversight role is also present, but unlike Wikipedia, where there is a dedicated "oversight" role, the oversight permission is given to sysadmins (Uncyclopedia server hosts) such as Lyrithya. Just like Wikipedia, neither administrators nor (ordinarily) bureaucrats are unable to view an edit hidden by oversight. Oversight is very seldom used on Uncyclopedia; the only example that I can think of is Uncyclopedia's press release when it departed from Wikia in 2013, where it was used to hide the real-life identities of administrators Zombiebaron and Lyrithya.
- Hope that clears things up! If you ever need a "revision deletion" edit to be made visible, feel free to ask an admin about it! If you need an article or an edit to be rev-deleted, feel free to ask an admin about it too! Don't bother asking about oversight though... it's very, very seldom used. β
ππ’π³β α 06:36pm January 2, 2021
- @Kev: Makes sense, but now I realize that the sysadmin right actually refers to sysadmin in the sense of Wikimedia, instead of just "admin x3". JJP...MASTER![talk to]JJP... master? 18:41, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- @JJPMaster: Kinda, but I forgot to mention... Bureaucrats can accord themselves the sysadmin right temporarily in order to meddle with these things too. Sysadmin status is more like an "Admin x2.5", if bureaucrat counts as "admin x2". β
ππ’π³β α 06:47pm January 2, 2021
- @Kev: And on that note, is there an equivalent of requests for undeletion or deletion review? JJP...MASTER![talk to]JJP... master? 19:44, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- @JJPMaster: Usually, for undeletion, asking an admin on their talk page is the quickest way to have a page restored. Owing to Uncyclopedia's smaller size, there is no equivalent to a dedicated "deletion review" page (unlike Wikipedia). Undeletion criteria tends to be quite broad: even reasons as simple as "I want to see what this page used to look like" are fine. β
ππ’π³β α 08:03pm January 2, 2021
- @Kev: nth question here: is there an equivalent of AN/I. Ban patrol is more like AIV in my opinion, because it is not a discussion page, but is there a discussion page with a similar purpose? JJP...MASTER![talk to]JJP... master? 17:45, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- @JJPMaster: As of right now, there isn't really an equivalent... the easiest way to discuss about a problematic user is to directly ask an administrator on their talk page, or contact one of them via Discord. Often admins will have chats together talking about what would be an appropriate punishment for a given person. Feel free to also give warnings on users' talk pages, just like Wikipedia -- and contact the admins as much as you need! β
ππ’π³β α 05:51pm January 3, 2021
- On a slightly unrelated note, can you hide the IP using RevDel on [1] as well as the edit summary on [2]. I decided I actually care about internet privacy and people not knowing my IP, and I hope this can reduce people knowing my exact geolocation. --Gale5050 complain about me! 19:48, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Using a template not from the Template namespace[edit]
Hi, I have a small problem. On the page Instruction manual I have made a subpage to be the specialized section title. It is transcluded (so, {{Instruction manual/title}}). This worked perfectly in userspace, but when I moved it to mainspace, a Template: prefix was automatically added, meaning that the transcluded template became Template:Instruction manual/title, which of course does not exist. Is there a way to force the software to transclude a template not from the Template namespace? ~ HipponiasCUN - Talk - Contribs - Articles 12:23, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Hipponias: Try transcluding
{{:Instruction manual/title}}
(note the colon at the front)! βππ’π³β α 12:26pm January 6, 2021

Abuse filter question[edit]
How come some filters are "unappealable"? And how come some are? Also, shouldn't the template {{unblock|your reason here}} be there so they know how to appeal. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 01:38, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- Unappealable filters are generally speaking, so precise that no one minus the intended target will be huffed. For example, filter 44 setects one specific website, and filter 66 detects one of 4 banned usernames. Unappealable means "the ip is banned for 3 months without talk page access". Basically, it's only when the likelihood of false positives is absolutely zero that it can be unappealable. That's why the more "general" filters, such as Viagra spam, are meant to be appealable. Blocked users can both request an unblock via freeform request or via the unblock template if it is appealable. Hopefully this clears things up. β
ππ’π³β α 01:47am January 12, 2021
- What are the 4 banned usernames? What is the website? I am curious as I can't see them myself. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 01:58, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- So.... the website in question that's banned, not mentioning the TLD, is
17ebook
; the banned usernames areSteffenSchoenhei
,FlorenceMcClinto
,TeresitaKnowlton
, andEricaFitzgibbons
. The first one,SteffenSchoenhei
, hit the filter a grand total of 37 times so far (that's 37 IPs blocked!), so this is essentially the equivalent of an LTA filter on Wikipedia. βππ’π³β α 02:51am January 12, 2021
- So, some abuse filters can have false positives(so therefore appealable), and a few are so narrow there is no collateral. But why aren't obvious users like "IAmASpamBot" or "Spambot" aren't blocked. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 19:56, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- It's because I, as well as most admins, tend to use a reactive approach to abuse filter creation, instead of a proactive one: instead of preventing all spambots before they can hit the filter, which takes much longer, new rules are created in order to fight back every extra spambot. So few spambots attempt to create "obvious" spambot accounts, choosing to all go with pseudo-real life nmaes (almost MLM style). Therefore, whenever a spambot somehow manages to slip past the filter, another rule is written to prevent that type of spambot from coming back; that's how the Viagra with cyanide, Academic fraud, and many other filters were born. β
ππ’π³β α 08:16pm January 12, 2021
- "EricaFitzgibbons" is a real name of a doctor, and 17ebooks is a very dangerous website. But why those 4 names, and not other real names? I'm confused. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 20:33, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- It's simply because those came up most often in the abuse log, back when a filter disabling real-life-like names was active. Nowadays, the filter is basically no longer useful at all simply bevause of how Zombiebaron chose to disable the long name filter, which asked users to message an admin to have an account created under such a username. For short: once again, it's based on reactive measures. β

- TL;DR: If it's a BLP and it has no humor whatsoever, OR only has an {{infobox person}} with no other text, it counts as spam. However, if it is a genuine attempt to talk about a person in a humorous light, then ask me or another UN:AA for an ICU or construction tag instead. β

Copyvio[edit]
If an edit is an obvious copyvio, can I revert it? They must be taken seriously and should be revisiondelwted once detected. Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 15:02, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- Only if it is EXTREMELY obvious - in that case, please leave a message on my talk page citing/linking the work that the Uncyclopedia image or text is stealing. β

Gale5050, talk page etiquette[edit]
Please take a look at the recent history of Gale5050's talk page and my talk page. No, I'm not asking for a block again, but please give Gale5050 another warning. Hopefully he'll listen. MrX blow me 15:41, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- You said the last time I was able to edit WP, which I technically could, but is inaccurate. In any case, a good faith effort to change semi-inaccurate information should probably be covered in the uw-tpv series, so I can see what level.--Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 16:19, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'll look into it now. It might take some time (I'm kind of busy right now), but if a warning is warranted I'll probably leave one (most likely a L3 or L4). β

In any case please revisiondelete [4] and then remove that box saying his age. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 18:43, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'll just state it real quick: Uncyclopedia does not have any de jure age requirement. However, its contents are de facto 13+, 16+ or 18+ depending on the page. Disclosing your age is a very bad idea, anywhere on the internet, so as such I would strongly recommend avoiding doing so. The only use I can really see for putting your age on the internet is on dating sites. And yeah, revdeling now. β

Of the Year awards[edit]
Yo, sorry to keep pestering you, and I hope this doesn't look like I'm campaigning for votes, but Uncyclopedia:Writer of the Year is fully protected so only admins can vote. Also, while that award project page and Uncyclopedia:Uncyclopedian of the Year both say that the winners will be announced at the end of January probably/maybe, perhaps we could make them both end February 8th? In line with the Top 10? Just some thoughts. Cheers. MrX blow me 20:11, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @MrX: I've unlocked WoTY, and both UoTY and WoTY now mention February 8th. Don't worry, the page wasn't meant to be protected in the first place! So... 'tis done. β

Talk: This page (honestly) really does not exist and if you dare to click on this link you will be sent into a black hole of endless nothingness where you will be tempted to edit pages that do not exist which will only get in you in even more trouble. as main page is deleted (enwiki G8) and please salt the talk page with create = sysop as no need for it and it may cause trolling. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 21:34, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Gale5050: Honestly, I think I'll allow this to stand. I changed it into a soft redirect for Irony, after the fact that it shouldn't exist but does too, and it is now sysop protected. Just another (rarely used) exception to WP-G8. β

- Wikipedia often blocks by the fifth warning... I think 4 times is fair enough by Uncyclopedian standards. We'll see how it goes. β
ππ’π³β α 11:27pm January 20, 2021
- On Wikipedia, normally it is L1, L2, L3, L4, block. Sometimes a level is skipped. In this case, this is there 3rd/4th warning. Therefore, I believe that an L3 or L4 is necessary. They were already given a final warning by Hipponias, so an L2 is definitely a little leniant. I will be monitoring there contributions. They are definitely pushing a ban. --Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 00:04, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

How to add things with CSS[edit]
How should I add something into a page with custom CSS? I actually know little about CSS. I only know how to mess up a page with it. And, for making a custom CSS for Newpedia layout, I need to add things onto the page. --Jabberwock (talk) 11:43, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- I code a bit and I'm pretty sure you can't add HTML elements to a page with pure css. You'll need Javascript for that (although I don't know how). ~ HipponiasCUN - Talk - Contribs - Articles 11:56, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Uw-spambot[edit]
I was thinking making a new template, uw-spambot. This would be the equivalent of a Level 4, where if itβs a false positive, weβd see. Gale5050 complain about me! And see my Wikipedia contributions! 15:22, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- Honestly, it's typically unnecessary since spambots are generally one-hit-KO'd for 3 months (IP addresses) or infinite (registered new users). I just updated {{Uw-spam4im}} for Uncyclopedia, so feel free to use that as an alternative. Additionally, I feel that adding such a template would be difficult, since it would require modifying Redwarn. However, since there ARE scenarios where it may be needed, especially with users with more than 10 edits having their accounts compromised, I copied the aforementioned template to Template:Uw-spambot; feel free to modify it as needed. β
