Chronarion message[edit source]

No, i'm not really interested in fighting you. Okay, i'll give you time. But please, please, keep your grammar and spelling standard up. Try writing a complete page rather than a series, because people hit 'random' and expect a single funny page. --Chronarion 00:20, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)

I don't mean to dampen your spirit, but sometimes your rewrites are kind of hard to understand, and the original was funnier.. Sorry.. --Chronarion 00:38, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)

no problem with this, you are very welcome to rewrite my rewrite to make them easier to understand, or funnier or whatever. this is exactly the point of wiki. Izwalito 08:39, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)

Izwalito comes from another non-english wiki where he is banned ; me too ; therefore we are searching for a place to land ; personally, I take much care NOT to disturb any more assoon as I realize my topics are not accepted ; is here a right place or should I (we?) try to find another one ??? 82.224.88.52 03:21, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)
to be more realistic, sysops and head of wmf says I'm banned, but I'm not as they don't have any technical means to ban anybody on a open system. I'm here for fun sharing and good relationship inside a community. Izwalito 08:39, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)
I saw they can't stop you writing but they are successful with me ; as long as I stay with the same IP, I have to wait till the ban is lifted. 82.224.88.52 17:21, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)
iIf you want to use the fr:wikipedia, at the moment there is absolutely no restriction for public proxy except those that got temp banned because I used'em to make a few posts. You'll find a huge lot of such proxies IP address in any search engine. If you're banned from en:wikipedia, some public proxies seems to be banned for being anonymous and public, I don't know much about en:wiki cause I had no trouble there. IMHO best is to use some social engineering.
Hi again Iz, I don't know about yours but my own ban from french wikipedia will end in very few days ; that's why I'll even not try your idea about public proxies. About uncyclopedia, I try to read a lot first before contributing ; a slower attitude than yours ;-))) Anyhow, my global feeling is that if Chronarion is right saying it is hard to understand you, we have both reasons to think Chronarion is himself hard to follow, mainly when he suggests. 82.224.88.52 16:55, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

I find your edits sort of hard to understand, and i'm sort of confused alot of the time. I think you might be hit with a lot of reverts, so don't take them personally. The thing is we're trying to clean up the place, and you're adding alot of uhm, how can we say, cruft. As for proxies, don't use a public proxy here. --Chronarion 13:01, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Chronarion, a question, don't take it personnally, but are you the one and only reference in matter of understanding ? Does your confusion means what you read was confusing or is it possible that you are confused because you missed a point ? Have you ever laughed of something you didn't understand ? Have you ever understood later something you didn't understand at first ? Do the things that confused you when you were a small child still confuse you today ? Is confusion gone through understanding ? Is the problem that I'm adding a lot ? or that you say we can say what I add is cruft ? About proxies, as I answered you earlier do not expect me to do what you think I should do just because you say. Could it maybe be a better approach to explain the why behind the don't ? Izwalito 13:36, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

The problem is that we're predominately english langauge. Your edits kind of are really hard to understand in english. In most standards of humor, it has to be close to the truth, i.e. understandable, in order to be funny. I have laughed at things that I did not fully understand, but I did understand the truth inherent in the thing to begin with. It's not like I can find completely incoherent things funny at all. The problem is that you're adding alot of cruft in particular. Izwalito, don't use a public proxy, because it would be a juvenile thing to do, and I ask that you demonstrate maturity. --Chronarion 13:42, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

A couple things I'd like to mention[edit source]

First of all, Izwalito, when you make a comment on one of the discussion pages, please sign it so we know who it's coming from. We want to address your concerns and help you out as much as possible, and it's hard to do when we don't know who's making the comment. To sign your comments, end them by typing two hyphens and four tildes, like this: --~~~~ The wiki will translate that to your username with a date and time stamp. Thanks!

Next: I know English isn't your first language, and that's OK. You type in English much better than I could do in whatever language you were brought up in, I'm sure. Please be patient with revisions to your work and corrections to your grammar, and don't take it personally when we ask for a rewrite or a clarification. We welcome contributions, and personally, I like to see writing and humor from a wide variety of sources. Some of your stuff comes across as insanely random to English speakers, and I don't mean that in a bad way, either.

Oh, yeah, one other thing: "I am a mushroom and I'm plopping all day." I love that line.

--Uvula Donor 12:13, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)

Plop!

hey Uvula Donor. Thanks for your concern and message, here's a quick but not so short answer.

I usually don't sign on wiki when I'm trying to express ideas. From my PoV and IMHO no one owns ideas you just happen to find them, and everyone is very welcome to duplicate, edit, change, modify, mutate ideas. I don't wan't my user name to be associated with ideas I happened to found, it doesn't feel correct/respectful to me. Sometimes I sign what I have created from ideas I or others found, but not on communauty work as there is not only one author, and besides I'm usually not looking for credit or profit from my work. This is the shroom way of life.

I usually sign when I'm trying to express my personal opinions. Anyways If you really want to know where it's coming from you can always look in page history anyways (fastidious heh? I think so too, certainly some improvements to do on this).

Thanks for your concern about me (lack of concern is not lacking on fr:wikipedia, maybe I lacked luck, but it seems what happened to me there didn't happen by chance as others had the same experience before me), I'm sometimes quick to answer, but I'm also patient no worries about that. I know wome of my writing make it seems I took it personally, but as a mushroom, the only thing that I take personally are those who touch others, no worries about this either.

My english is not as good as it used to be, which is a pity but I'm working on it, but I have to admit that I care more about semantic and semiology than grammar, might have something to do with the kind of mushroom I am: the 'far too interested in thing it shouldn't be interested in, at least, as people says, not now' kind. Which is inextricably mixed with the wide variety of sources you wrote about. There is a fungus saying: it is not a chance if mushroomness appears as randomness, it is hazardous luck; and another one: insanity is good as you have to be insane to think you are sane.

Happy to learn that you like the mushroom line, this line is so true, you can only imagine how much. We are fungus, linked together by mycelium and plopping as mushroom here and now, there and then. Might have something to do with T.A.Z. (Temporary Autonomous Zone), maybe not I can't tell, I'm only a mushroom, I'm not the awesome Humongous Fungus.

See you around! Izwalito 11:21, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Okay, but PLEASE sign your votes and comments in VFD. Otherwise, they will be ignored.

--Chronarion 12:57, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Do whatever you think you should do, I'll do whatever I think I should do. Be aware that if you think you should tell me what I should do, I think I should do <add in here everything you think I shouldn't do> to that kind of authoritarian attitude. I'm very sorry (this is an outrageous lie, I'm not sorry at all) I ignored the "ignoring ideas for any reason is a really good idea" idea. Izwalito 13:14, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Loops & Categories[edit source]

There's ALREADY like 4-5 infinite loop pages AND a category Infinite Loop Pages :-P --Chronarion 13:03, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Please please, try to REDUCE the categories. We have too many categories as it is. A category is not useful for browsing if there's only one article in each!--Chronarion 13:05, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

So ? Do you need me to tell you which articles you can add in the corresponding categories ? how to merge articles ? why talking about something you could have done instead of talking is a loss of time ? or are you simply asking to stop contributing because my way and go away from uncyclopedia ? Izwalito 13:14, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

That's not what Chrono is saying. What he's saying is this - There are already a bunch of pages with infinite loops. More aren't funny, so please don't spend time on that kind of page. Concentrate on new articles.
I guess what I am answering to chrono is just do the needed merges and let me know my work has been merged, I can figure out the rest by myself. Izwalito 14:07, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
The thing is, I don't have the time to do that. And neither does everyone else. So, if you are writing the article, please do the research! That's all I'm asking. When you're writing in a community, please make it intergrate into it, instead of sitting on top of it.--Chronarion 14:21, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
What I've told other contributors would be useful to you also - it is better to write two or three in-depth, well-developed long articles than a whole bunch of little stubby articles that don't go anywhere and are hit-or-miss in their humor. Go for quality not quantity.
It is possible to go very deep without 2 pages. As others, I am going for quality, but we are all still on the road. Should make a 'To-merge' list so quantity of articles should be reduced. If this list already exists, it should be more visible as I didn't find it. Some useful tool pages seems not to exist yet. Izwalito 14:07, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
For the categories: check the category list and make sure a category you want to add is really necessary. Tons of categories make things confusing, we want to try to keep things simple. OK? Really, we're not trying to get you to go away, but the Uncyclopedia won't be successful without the help of the contributors. We want to work together with you, not against you. --Uvula Donor 13:29, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
I looked brieftly for a category list, didn't find it, so I just went on, knowing that I would have a message about it on my talk page about it sooner or later. Actually I mtrying to reduce category number in creating more global categories from recurrent jokes I've found in articles. the bob quotes category is a joke itself.
I know we all want to work together, but there is the good way to talk about things and the bad way. If you say things the bad way, it cripples the discussion, and the team work. I usually cast a irony mirror spell on this kind of talk. I'm not so encline to lose (again) amount of times trying to explain myself to someone who has difficulties to express himself/herself in the first place Izwalito 14:07, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
Mostly i'm just saying that you have to work with us, not against us. Try to, well, look at our existing things before putting up new walls, or we'll just keep building the same wall over and over again and never end up with a house. that's cruft. --Chronarion 14:21, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Because it's infinitely harder to track you across like fifty articles when I have to do other things as well. This isn't wikipedia. This is really not a democracy. It is, rather authoritarian. My suggestions are to help maintain our quality standard so we don't descend into anarchy. I'm trying to uphold a standard of comedy, and if you don't like how it works, please stop editing. Even though it's a wiki, it should not be a battle. You have to work within our boundaries, or you're just detracting from coherency. --Chronarion 13:32, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Why are you tracking me for in the first place ? I'm quite a big and exprienced mushroom now, I know how to figure things out by myself, I know how to fix my own mistakes, I know how to learn what I don't know yet, I know how to ask a question when I can't figure it out by myself, I can track my own work myself. Authoritarian means acting as if one has autority when one doesn't have this autority, it's just a matter of attitude and words, not politics. Dunno what the uncyclopedia parody has to do with your way of talking ... Your sugestions are formulated as orders, hence are not suggestions. It is important to choose a correct formulation if you want to be understood. There will be no battle if you edit, merge, rewrite instead of delete, reverting, going backwards.

no one can improve what is destroyed. About your last sentence all I can say to you is, there are other worlds, a huge f***ing lot of them. the 2 steps to see them are: 1) close eyes 2) open mind 3) serve while it's hot. Izwalito 14:07, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Well, it's because your edits are kinda confusing. Technically, I do have the authority. That's why it's well, not really just an attitude, but I do have control. I understand that yeah, edit edit edit, but I don't have infinite time, and I have to try to keep a quality standard without spending my entire life here. Yes, there are other worlds. But you're in our world. As long as you're here, I ask that you work within our rules and culture. If you're somewhere else, follow that, but if you're here, please follow ours. It'll help. --Chronarion 14:21, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
Technically you are allowed to think you have authority because someone told you were given power. But one can only have authority on himself. In absence of mastery, power is nothing but corruption.
What you said is mainly an argument from authority. An argument from authority indicates authoritarian behaviour, which indicates absence of authority (no personal attack meant, this is a commonly known among linguists).
When I said there are other worlds it was an incentive to make you understand that if this is not OUR world, then YOU don't have nothing to do in MY world. And if you like we can spend the rest of eternity repeating this, one to each other (your move on this, I usually invite friends that enjoy having a good laugh on someone humiliating himself/herself over the Internet to watch that ball game). As you can see by yourself, I'm actually here and not following what you want me to follow, so there are other worlds that the ones you're talking about, because the present reality does not fit in the worlds described. In other words: think global, act local. Izwalito 15:24, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Cooperate, or I will block you if I have to. If you're purposefully trying to attack the system, this is disruptive and will be banned. --Chronarion 15:31, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Cooperate, or I will block you is nominated the award of the most smarter attitude ever, the best incentive way to obtain cooperation, and the greatest strategy move ever made in a discussion. and the awards didn't come because they were busy elsewere doing something else.
note: if it is possible to block an IP, it is impossible to block public access to an open system. Yo can cut and eat a mushroom it will grow again elsewhere, mycelium that is, fungus that is. Izwalito 15:40, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Okay. Then, can you please, please, go somewhere else? I'm asking you nicely. I really don't want to bother any more. Just please, go away? --Chronarion 15:45, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

Damn... so do I have to be a comedically challenged ESL student to get this many comments on my talk page? --Savethemooses 23:25, 27 Mar 2005 (EST)
