Automated RSS Feed[edit source]

Basically what I was thinking of is setting up a server with cron to wget the raw version of the featured article template every so often, and a php script that parses it and creates an rss feed. Alternitivly, the chron could run a script that detects if the article has changed, and if so, upload a new rss feed to the site as an article. This rss feed could be accessed with the ?action=raw trick. The mime type is php though, so it wouldn't be valid xml that way. --Paulgb 19:02, 17 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Maybe just the first 300-500 characters. And I think that can be done with JavaScript. I dont know, I only know a little HTML.--Foo21(talk)-(edits)-(block) 22:50, 17 Nov 2005 (UTC)
This would need some sort of server side scripting (I'm thinking PHP). Its not a big deal though. I might look into it later this weekend. Do you find people are using your rss feed? --Paulgb 21:59, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Yes, a few are. I can advertise it more.--Foo21(talk)-(edits)-(block) 23:41, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Please don't advertise in the dotw templates. The view-to-edit ratio is still quite high, we don't need people who will never edit uncyc using rss feeds that much. Advertise on the dump. 21:30, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)
