He hands you small, red, perfectly-cut gemstone. "Beware," he says, "it carries a terrible curse." You walk out of the police department, wondering what the hell this might mean. As you are fingering this gemstone, your fingernail slips into a small hole inside it. The gemstone begins to emit an eery light, and becomes painful to the touch. You drop it and quickly back away. The light gets brighter and brighter, until you can barely open your eyes. Suddenly, a huge sound wave resonates from the stone. An enormous gargoyle mounted on the roof of Grueland Police Department becomes dislodged from its perch atop the building due to the vibrations, and falls down.
