The 1988 movie Contra, starring 1 Player and 2 Players, is loosely based on this story. Note that B.D. (left) is portrayed as a white man, as the major studios at the time were unwilling to risk casting a black man as a main character.

Bad Dudes is the code name given to the two-man CIA task force in charge with handling the Iran-Contra Affair. The team consisted of Col. John "Hannibal" Striker, famous for his love of exquisite Cuban cigars, and Sgt. Bosco B.D. ("Bad Dude") Baracus, the comic relief.

When news of the affair broke to the media in 1986, the Bad Dudes took the blame for the entire operation, claiming that it was run without the knowledge of President Ronald Reagan. This act of sacrifice essentially saved Reagan's reputation, and he returned the favor by pardoning them at the end of his term, professing that they were imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit. (Even though he hadn't been officially diagnosed with Alzheimer's by then, no one wanted to argue with the poor guy.) After being released, Hannibal unsuccessfully tried unsuccessfully to have a career in politics, while B.D. went on to have a moderately successful career with endorsements and book deals.
