The Adam and Callum Show is a self sustained comedy show filmed live in front of an audience of Spanish speakers. It attracts around 10 viewers a week, but is well known in other circles.

Origin[edit | edit source]

The Adam and Callum Show was first broadcast in September 2006 to an audience of only 4 people, all of whom French speakers, and from then on the show progressed substantially. The idea for the show came from one Doctor Whittaker, a brilliant man who had travelled the length and breadth of time and space a mere 45 seconds previously, and Captain Toombs, whom the aforementioned Doctor had known for many years and had faith and trust in. Together, while travelling through time and space, the good Doctor came upon the idea to host a talk show, with comedy, guest stars and cameos thrown in. However he could not do this on his own and assigned his good friend the Captain to co-host with him. A place was chosen carefully, and it is so that The Adam and Callum Show came to be.

Content[edit | edit source]

Both the hosts had to keep their audience entertained with crazy antics, comedy, news, gossip, and in the field reports. In its first year of broadcast, the show was a triumph, being quoted as 'positively the most amusing talk show i have seen in a long while' and 'legendary', among other rave reviews from magazines such as 'Smack, Crack, and Stoners Weekly' and 'Constipation Relief Digest'.

Tablympics

One of the most famous skits performed on the show was the incredible 'Tablympics', performed by the Doctor. This met with acclaimed praise and was widely regarded as a triumph in the field of modern athletics. The Doctor competed in the 'Sur-Table Crawl' and the 'Sub-Table Race', claiming First Prize in both events. Film footage, now lost, showed that the Doctor sustained minor knee injuries while competing in the latter event, but his persistence held true and he won in record time.

The Malteser Throw-n-Catch

There were also many forms of entertainment provided on the show which involved audience participation. One such form was the Malteser Throw-n-Catch. In this, both hosts and three members of the audience took part in throwing Maltesers into the air and catching them in their mouths. This was most entertaining for everyone involved. One audience member, named Beans, was not the best at this game, and would frequently miss by throwing the Malteser too far back and subsequently not getting much chocolate.

Gossips Corner

One very popular part of the show involved both the hosts interacting with the audience to spread and recieve gossip about people that the hosts and the audience knew. This was very popular and sometimes took up most of the time slot allocated to the show. But there was no complaining done, as all the gossip and news was much appreciated among the audience and the hosts.

The Giant Paper Aeroplane

Quite possibly the most famous creation on The Adam and Callum Show, the giant paper aeroplane was the idea of the Captain during one rather slow episode. It was decided that an A1 sized poster bedecking the walls of the studio was not needed and would not be missed, and, using skills learned from a friend (CM) the day before, the Captain managed to build a fully functional paper aeroplane. This was tested in the studio and was found to be a great success. It was photographed and filmed and made headlines the world over. This giant aeroplane was stored on a cupboard in the studio. Recently the aeroplane has been revived and redone to make it much more sturdy, safe, and flyable. Using some beautiful staples provided by a member of the guest stars, the plane was reconstructed and flew far better than previous attempts. This second flight, considered by some to be a revival similar to that of Concorde, was, to a certain extent, to suffer a crash, just as the craft to which it has been countlessly referred. During a freak accident on a routine flight the aeroplane crashed into one of the guest stars, damaging her arm. After a hug from the Doctor, the guest was fine and no lawsuit followed. It is rumoured that in the final episode the plane will make its most triumphant flight yet, but this is mere speculation and the sources have not yet confirmed the verity of these claims.

The French-Spanish War

During one episode, the largely Spanish speaking audience rose up in anger at the hosts and their guest, launching paper balls at them in an unprovoked attack against the hosts and their guests, who spoke mostly French. The French returned fire, against common behaviour of those of French origin, and, after many minutes of intense battle, the French were victorious, and claimed back The Adam and Callum Show. This attack was, due to its intense nature, not filmed or photographed, and so the only record comes from the witnesses and participants in the war. Because of bias from both sides, and also various forms of propaganda, it is difficult to confirm who it was who initiated the war.

Spanish Dancing

In one memorable episode, the Spanish speaking audience, in a kind display, demonstrated to The Adam and Callum Show a display of salsa, flamenco, and tango dancing. This was highly acclaimed and appreciated by all who witnessed it, and the show hopes to have other such events in the near future.

The Doctor Visits...

In this unusual skit, The Doctor would go around the studio and take tourist pictures with landmarks of the studio, such as audience members, the cupboard, and the guest stars. This gave a more family feel to the episode, and allowed for the audience to follow the Doctor and become more empathic with him.

Guest Stars and Cameos[edit | edit source]

The Adam and Callum Show relies on its guests to create a more interesting and enjoyable show

(Sm)Ellen

(Sm)Ellen is the only guest star to have been there for almost every episode, and has proved most popular with our audience. She frequently interacts with the audience and so has gained her popularity with the audience most admirably. She is sometimes subjected to comical situations to add to the audience's entertainment, such as being bestowed with gifts by the Doctor, being impersonated by the Doctor, and by having some of her things thrown into the audience (a factor which may have lead to the French-Spanish War). She has consistently proved popular with the hosts and the audience, bringing in cookies for them one episode.

Dan

Dan was the only male guest in the show. He, along with many of the other cameos, was only an audience member in the first season of the show, but was to become a guest star in the second season. As a guest it was nice to see him each week, though there were often times when he was not available due to a busy schedule or problems with a rat with big loud shoes. Unfortunately, Dan appeared on his last episode in the Christmas Special,as he was then to leave for a career in something else after Christmas. There was speculation about whether this was just a publicity stunt to create hype for the show, but this was not the case, as Dan was not to return to the show. However, he is rumoured to be appearing in the Summer Special, which, unfortunately, is to be the last episode of 'The Adam and Callum Show'.

Beans

Unfortunately, Beans left the show at the end of the last season, to pursue her career in a different path, namely the design and technology field. However, she is still in contact with the show and is informed of its progress.

Jaddison

Like Beans, Jaddison left the show at the end of the first season. A welcome addition to the show, he wasnt actually supposed to be there. He just had some time and decided to appear. This was not minded by anyone, and he was welcomed onto the show as if he was supposed to be there. He would often take part in some of the things done on the show, but would also sit on a computer in the corner if, by some strange chance, the rest of the show had to continue working on something.

The Geordie Thief

A rare appearance, and even then only for a few moments, the Geordie Thief will appear on the show and, once she knows what's going on, leaves to find things dropped on the floor that she takes for herself. She is a very nice person and is very helpful when she's around, but due to her busy schedule, rarely finds time to star in an entire episode. Her appearance on the last episode has yet to be confirmed.

Changes Between The First And Second Seasons[edit | edit source]

In the first season, the studio was in K10, but, because of the reshuffling of other programmes, the studio was changed to G16. This change was made because our studio was needed for another show, and also the people in charge needed to move shows about a bit between seasons. At least the change was appreciated, as the previous studio was actually quite disgusting, often smelling of B.O. from young boys and also it was rarely ever cleaned, demonstrated by the time Beans left a packet of Haribo Starmix in one of the computers and it was still there a couple of months later.

In the first season, there were no guest stars, just audience members. In the second season, the audience from the first season became the guest stars and the Spanish speakers became the new audience.

The show lost an important person at the beginning of season 2, Beans, and also halfway through, Dan.

Acclaim for The Adam and Callum Show[edit | edit source]

Since its first broadcast in September of 2006, the show has recieved much acclaim, political, acumenical, social, economical, historical, and socio-historical. Magazines such as the aforementioned 'Smack, Crack, and Stoners Weekly' and 'Constipation Relief Digest' are merely two of the many high-brow oeuvres which have praised the show. Others include:

Thai Bride Catalogue

Christianity Today

The Economist

Revolutions in Time Travel

These magazines are popular among the viewers of the show and have therefore led directly to the high audience numbers in the second series in particular.
