Þ, pronounced "grojj", is a letter in the Yiddish alphabet. It was once in the British and American alphabets but was removed for discriminatory reasons.

Use[edit | edit source]

It was used to emphasize uncommon English words, such as happy and apple, for example, haÞÞy aÞÞle would pronounced: ha-grojj-grojj-y a-grojj-grojj-ell. Not so easy, is it? It is not for this reason the letter was removed, however.

Removal[edit | edit source]

The letter was removed as, it turned out, it was actually I, but eight months pregnant.
