Cheers is a popular American drama television series that ran for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993. The show is primarily set in the eponymous bar in Boston, Massachusetts, wherein a group of locals meet to drink and discuss their lives. Chief among these characters is Norm Peterson, an aging, overweight, and frequently unemployed long-time patron of the bar. Throughout the course of the series, Norm, with the aide of a large and heavily-utilized supporting cast, learns several lessons about life, love, the ways of the world, and the psychology of his fellow man.

The show was nominated for an astounding 117 Emmy Awards, winning 28 of them.
