In all honesty it is probably best not to talk to children about your meat, anyway.

If you were allowed to have scissors in first grade, you would know that most animals have a life-cycle in which they transition from one form to another. For example, the tadpole exits the egg and becomes the frog. The caterpillar enters the chrysalis and becomes a butterfly. The puppy is placed in the bag and lands in the river. Nature is at work.

What they didn't tell you in class, however, was the final stage of life as an animal. That is, resting on a plate as a big hunk of meat.
