Introduction

This article is filled with pranks. I cannot give you the source because you just don't give a crap about it. However there will be no editting of this page or it will be deleted. If you have any pranks list it on the Discussion Page and hope that I will find it. Maybe I will.

Note: The pranks and practical jokes listed on this article are for entertainment purposes only. Some may be harmful to others or illegal, so I do not support that type of behavior. I take no responsibility for anyone getting into trouble or causing any harm due to this article because most of it ain't my work.

Computer Pranks

Black On Black Change the prompt on someones computer to be black on black. This is rather cruel if the person is computer illiterate. Very effective the day before a big project is due.

Did You Hear That? It is possible to play sounds remotely on some workstations. (Sun SparcStations for instance) You can have all kinds of fun playing sounds like flushing toilets and other unusual sounds. Works best if the person is a relative newbie.

Porno On The Overhead Run a XXX-GIF slide show on the overhead computer projectors found in many computer rooms and large lecture halls. Very effective if done before a large class. You may wish to superglue the drive doors shut as well as all the relevant power switches in the "on" position and the power cables to the wall and hide the keyboard.

Formatting C Write a small program that prints "Formatting C:" and starts printing a series of dots at intervals afterwards. Simulate disk access by contiuously creating and deleting an empty text file.

Problems Printing Write a daemon that sends each individual page of a print job to a different printer on the network. Select the printer at random.

Voice Recognition Technology Put an intercom inside a machine and then convince some nerd that it is an AI with voice recognition.

Hypnotic Virus Convince a newbie that there has been a virus going around that presents hypnotic patterns on the screen which can really mess up your mind. Then start up remotely or set to start at a particular time a fractal program of some sort. They'll probably panic big time.

Keyboard Difficulties Write a TSR that turns the keyboard on and off at short intervals. You'll watch the person try keyboard after keyboard. Can also swap keys using ANSI.SYS or xmodemap depending on the system.

How did this XXX image get here? Convert a XXX image to a bitmap and make it someone's OS/2 or Windows backround. You can also change the backround of someone's X-Windows session remotely as well as make picture appear and they can't stop you. (use XV or a similar program)

Fun With A Mac Floppy Disk Rig the spring in a Macintosh floppy drive to fire the disk a goodly distance from the machine upon ejection.

Slow or Fast? Reverse the turbo switch so that the machine runs fast when it should run slow and slow when it should be fast.

Change The Default Password If they haven't changed the default password for their BIOS, change it yourself and lock them out of their machine.

Fake Error Messages Write fake disaster error messages that appear at random time.

Speed Up The Double Click While your victim is away from his or her computer, change the double click setting on the mouse. To do this, just go to to start, settings, control panel and then mouse. Make it so fast that it is nearly impossible to do.

Super Fast Mouse When your victim is away from his computer, go into the setting and increase the speed of the mouse to the fastest. When he gets back, he will be unable to control the curser.

.com Prank Purchase your victim's .com domain name. Example: JamesCharleston.com then post embarrasing stuff about him on the website and send him the link.

Computer Ticking Time Bomb This is a great prank to play on someone who knows very little about computers. While he or she isn't paying attention change their scrolling screensaver to say this: Attention Windows Customer, I am sorry and need to inform you. Your system has been infected with a very serious virus and your entire system will explode in exactly 30 seconds, 29 seconds, 28 seconds...

Bandwidth Stealing If you have a website with alot of traffic then you know how expensive bandwidth can be. There are alot of theives in cyberspace that will just use your images on their site while at the same time just linking to your image host. The perfect payback for this is to change the image names from time to time and replace the old image names with a different image. You can use an animated gif that reads 'I Am Gay' or some other creative image.

Mac OSX Screen Prank If you press CTRL+OPTION+APPLE+8 at the same exact time on any Mac OSX computer the screen will change to a black and white negative of what the current screen is. To undo this, just press the same keys again.

Porn Email Sign your victim up for free porn email and put him on alot of unwanted newsletters and spam lists.

Prank On A Female Victim Sign up for an online dating service and use her name and photo if you have one. Then describe her as being desperate and horny. Be sure to leave her email address or phone number so any guy can contact her.

Bad Word If you have a co-worker who leaves his cubicle to get a drink or smoke, then chances are he or she is also leaving their email or word processing software open as well. If they do this and are in the middle of typing something, go up to their computer and type the word 'SHIT' in the middle of their document. They will end up emailing it or printing it like that if they don't double check it.

Prank On Computer Illiterate Stick a floppy disk in the floppy drive. The user will not be able to boot windows up until the floppy disk is removed.

Blind Carbon Copy Prank This prank is for that annoying co-worker who is always sending out pesonal emails, chatting online with friends and using company time to talk on cell phone to boy/girlfriend. All you have to do is go to their email when they are away and set it to "send blind carbon copies" to your boss's email address.

Screensaver Password Change your victim's computer so they need a password to get out of 'screensaver' mode.

Scrolling Marque Prank Change your victim's screensaver so it is a scrolling marque and says something like "(victim's name) is gay and eats shit"

Bookmark Prank While your victim is away from his computer, change all of his browser bookmarks so they go to porn sites or site with obscene material. Be sure to keep the title the same though, this way he or she won't know its changed until they click on it.

MySpace Computer Prank Create a new 'fake' profile on MySpace claiming to be a new girl in school. Tell alot of boys personally where to meet her at lunchtime. Give each of them the same location and time. Then watch as dozens of boys go to the same location looking for a hot chick that doesn't exist.
