In the unlikely event you both live in the UK, and have not seen the petitions (yes, plural), please sign them! Every vote doesn't really help, but it sends a message! (Only vote if you are a UK citizen.)

Repeal the Online Doxx Yourself Act!

Call an immediate general election, since the government ignored the above petition even though they were supposed to discuss it after 100k votes.

So, you want a fancy signature when you type in talkpages. Welcome to the club.

Unfortunately, fancy sigs require a lot of wikicode, which is large and ugly, makes the diff pages and source code difficult to read, and annoys users.

How do you bypass this?

Set your preference for your signature to something like {{nosubst|User:<YOUR USERNAME HERE>/sig{{!}}[[User:<YOUR USERNAME HERE>]]}}.

Yes, that last link pointing to your userpage is important, or {{ping}} won't work, even if you link to your userpage inside of the signature template.

(Explanation: to ping somebody, there are 3 requirements: You must include a link to the userpage of the person you want to ping; you must link to your user or talk page; and you must include 3 or 4 tildes (~~~~.[1])

  1. w:Help:Notifications#Mentions - "Sign your comment with ~~~ or ~~~~. Notifications will not be sent if your signature is embedded in a template, or has no link to your user page or user talk page." It will work in a template, it just won't work if you don't include the link as described above.
