The Great Linux War was a mammoth conflict fought between the Axis of Corporate Distros (ACOD) Novell, Inc., Red Hat, Inc. and Grue and Grue Futures, Inc. and the Indpendent Distros For Indpendence (IDI). Also featured in the confilct was NINIA which stands for NINIA is not IDI or AOCD, which changed sides and fought its own battles throughout the campain.
While the war had many causes and issues, they can be narrowed down to two main causes/reasons:
- Linux users and the IDI didn't want to have to pay for Linux
- ACOD wanted to make users pay for Linux licences. Also, they wanted to place a tax on pie.
