The Male group psychosis theory
A rare phenomenon of group psychosis that might happen when two to four men are working in a female dominated workplace (for example in some medical places).
The theory goes: When men in a workplace mostly occupied by women have a chance to work together and joke around their jokes they wouldn't joke with women they might end up screamlaughing to each others stories. This might irritate another worker who is not laughing with them and they might propose a rule that these men should not work the same shift to the boss.
If the boss accepts the demands of the disgruntled worker a separation will take place between the male workers. They might not notice straight away but when they do work together at between shift changes they are now in a hurry to blurt out whatever they have planned to joke about to the other guy as there isn't much time between shift changes. This usually ends up messing their heads up and the joking turns into yelling, screaming, almost falling down because of lack of oxygen and they might be completely unaware of the co-workers around them.
This ends up making the irritated co-worker whining more and then the males completely lack work time together. At this point usually the trick is discovered and the boss is told about the evilness of the mistreatment of the male workers.
The boss now might give them more shifts together but the damage is already done. Now everytime the guys meet, the joking is now made in the same quick panicky way. The laughing might take up to 10 hours irritating everyone around them.
The odd thing about the group psychosis is that the males are usually smart, handsome, highly skilled professionals, who care about what people think about them.
Examples of late stage male group psychosis.
Example 1 A, B and C are working at the same time between shifts. A and B tell a story to C about an explosive fart that ends up getting A's neighbour evicted because of racism. A, B and C laugh so hard and won't stop because of lack of situational awareness that the others call over the manager. A, B and C in their psychosis run to the other side of the building and keep laughing while everyone hearing it and are thinking what is happening.
Example 2 C has been working for a long time in the same department and D also works there but rarely because he has to jump between departments. C and D sometimes get to work together and might go into group psychosis yelling and laughing because they are in a hurry to tell their jokes. D get's a better job at another department but C and D make plans drunk about going to the army. Now they have a common intrest. A year later C also joins the same unit. D has been building up his reputation with skill and hard work, worked overtime through sweat and tears and has earned his reputation as a true professional. C also wants respect and tries to prove he is worthy worker in the ranks of the new unit. C wants to be known as a hard working smart family man and has been planning for months that he will behave normally when he meets D. C and D meet at work for about an half an hour three times in 3 days and everytime go back to their old habits and enter group psychosis. Both of their reputations are ruined.
Male group psychosis can be avoided the following method: instead of separating the men, put them on the same shift numerous times. Then they don't have any new stories to tell each other and do not enter group psychosis as their jokes are less funny.
