Moccasin snake
The moccasin snake (Mockerius asininus) (sometimes colloquially known as the moccasnake) is a kind of pit viper that is usually found in the wetlands of Moccasinia, although it can be found in some places outside of Moccasinia. Like most things in Moccasinia, the moccasin snake is made of moccasins, with its body simply being made up of several moccasins strung in a line. The moccasnake is known to be highly venomous, with a bite lethal enough to kill several large moccasins. When fully grown, the moccasnake is approximately nine feet long, being one of the largest snake species in North America. When threatened, the moccasnake has been observed to shape itself into the shape of a moccasin, or somewhat of an oval, and display its razor sharp moccafangs. It is quite a strong swimmer, capable of swimming across the moccalakes and moccarivers around Moccasinia. It is also sometimes known as a cottonmouth snake, water moccasin snake, swamp moccasin, or simply the moccaviper.
The generic name is derived from the Moccasinian words mawkasin and snakisin or, "big snake". The Moccasinians are not very creative with naming things. The scientific name, Mockerius asininus, comes from the words Mockerius and asinius, which translates to "this snake is mocking me and it is asinine". Most scientists dislike the name "water moccasin snake" as the moccasin snake does not spend all it's time in the water, and it can lead to confusion with other types of Moccasinian snakes, such as the moccapython, or the moccaconstrictor.

Anatomy and description[edit | edit source]
Mockerius asininus is the largest snake in the genus Mockerius. An adult moccasnake can reach lengths of over nine feet, making it one of the largest in North america. Females are usually around 20% smaller than males. The largest moccasnake ever found reached a length of over twelve feet.
As stated before, the moccasnake is made of several moccasins strung together, but inside of the moccasins is a bunch of moccasin shaped organs, such as a moccaheart, and unusually for snakes, two functional lungs, although one is quite a bit smaller than the other, moccamuscles, and a moccastomach.
Although most specimens are moccasin colored, the color of them can vary quite a bit, with the colors varying from black, all the way to a light grey, and everything in between those two colors.
Venom[edit | edit source]
Mockerius asininus venom is much more toxic than most of its brethren, and it is rich in moccatoxic venom that breaks down any non-moccasin matter. If you are bitten by a moccasnake, and if you are not made of moccasins, you will most likely die unless the limb that was bitten is amputated. However, if you are a moccasin based creature, the bite will not do much more besides some mild inflammation and swelling. Fatalities are quite frequent among tourists visiting Moccasinia, with a staggering 90% death rate of those bitten. There is no antivenom, although pressing a moccasin to the affected area can slow down the venom enough to get to the nearest moccahospital and get the limb removed. most moccahospitals offer replacement limbs made of moccasins, or a moccaprosthetic.
reproduction[edit | edit source]
Moccasin snakes reproduce via splitting themselves in half, and each half will grow into a new snake. this process takes around fifteen minutes.
