Arrivatrainsnails - shaming staff with bad customer service.

121121.jpg

Arrivatrainsnails (also known as Arrivasnails) was born in the City of Newport during July 2010. Arrivatrainsnails developed after a group of annoyed welsh passengers experienced on a regular basis the bad attitude, poor customer service and general abusive nature of staff at Newport railway station. Frustrated with continuously being late due to delayed trains whilst travelling to work, the group decided that enough is enough. They believe it's time that as passengers they should voice their concerns to the management of a certain train company.

As paying customers the group are tired of being spoken to with disdain and not being valued for their contributions. The arrivatrainsnails.co.uk website has arisen to highlight the poor service and general unhelpfulness of staff at Newport railway station who never fail to ruin passengers days. The team responsible for setting up Arrivatrainsnails are aiming to make the management at Newport Railway Station aware that their staff have a real bad attitude towards customers and that passengers are no longer willing to tolerate it.

'Recent Mission'

Train Free Day

Just recently it was announced that rail fares are to rise next year on average by 6.2%. That’s just an average, in some areas Season Ticket holders could be paying as much as 10.8% more. There is no price cap so rail firms could raise them by much more.

Newport-Bristol off-peak day return will be rising by 8%. We feel this is too high an increase for our daily commute which is already expensive, often late and always overcrowded. Like many, our wages aren’t likely to rise by this amount so we have to swallow these costs ourselves just to get to work. This is why we are going on strike.

What we’re proposing is a passenger strike day sometime in 2011.

We call it TRAIN FREE DAY.

It’s not easy but see if you can find an alternative method of transport, be it by bike, car, bus or walking. If that’s not possible consider working from home.

By protesting in large numbers perhaps we can make a difference and let the government and rail companies know that we won’t just accept price hikes without any improvements to the service.

http://www.arrivatrainsnails.co.uk and http://www.onatrain.net are joining forces to help launch TRAIN FREE DAY.

Please show your support, re-tweet this article, tell people about it on Facebook or email your friends this article. It would be great if we made a difference. Don’t forget to add your comments in our guestbook.

Recent Successes

Very recently, inspired by their own ideas, they launched a campaign by leaving business cards and postcards all over the South Wales area. They decided to print the postcards with their local railway station in mind, and instead of the well known 'wish you were here' logo, they used their 'wish you weren't here?' logo - aimed at asking the staff if they now regret being at the frontline of the arrivatrainsnails bad customer service campaign. They have also launched the arrivatrainsnails website and you can follow the blog at arrivatrainsnails.blogspot.com

Latest News about Newport Railway Station

IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH was the headline on the front page of the South Wales Argus today, referring to the amount of complaints being made about Newport’s new train station.

The local council are demanding urgent talks with railway bosses since being made aware of the increasing number of complaints about facilities and services being offered at the station and no doubt the issue of the rudeness and unhelpfulness of staff will be on the agenda.

The article reports that the situation has become so bad that Newport council’s managing director Tracey Lee, and Newport Unlimited chief executive Gareth Beer are calling for a meeting with Network Rail to try and address the problems as quickly as possible.

Archived News

In late 2010, in time for the Ryder Cup, the newly constructed buildings at Newport Railway Station will finally open. The £22million facelift will improve the appearance of the station, achieve greater links between all modes of transport and create a new gateway into Newport, improving pedestrian access between the station and the city centre. So it's fair to say that things are looking good for passengers and commuters @ Newport?

Well maybe not quite yet, as the staff at Newport Railway Station still have a real bad attitude towards customers. Maybe it's time that the management at the station spent a little bit more cash on some customer service courses?
