HOMETOWN --- A local florist has been arrested and charged with DUI vehicular assault after a reckless driving incident left a pedestrian in critical condition last night.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 P.M. on Highway No. 69, just outside town proper, where local florist and former police chief Asgore Dreemurr struck and ran over local high school student December Holiday, quickly leaving the scene until authorities caught up after a lengthy chase.

Emergency responders arrived to the scene quickly after another driver alerted the authorities about the incident, with the victim, being transported to Hometown Local Hospital, where they remain in a coma, in critical, yet stable condition.

Police report that the perpetrator's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit at the time of the incident, as well as being under the influence of marijuana, and although the substance is legal in the locality, they emphasized that it contributed to the perpetrator's overall cognitive abilities.

In a conversation we had with the perpetrator in his cell, he was still under the effects of cannabis, and was extremely defensive about his actions, saying that he was "simply doing a favor to everyone in town", and that the victim "is the 'Roaring Knight', who apparently has dark powers, that he was protecting the town from", also admitting that he indeed drunk seven cans of beer and smoked a few blunts hours before the incident.

The victim's family has requested privacy after the incident, and had declined to speak from their side as of the moment.
