It seems the marsupial has seen the moccasin you were holding in your hands, and got scared from thinking you were going to use it against them. As much as you'd like to help them, it seems that moccasin of yours won't help your cause. If you want to talk to the OPOSSUM, you might want to get rid of your moccasin.
