I must contest this idea of Darwen as an inferior political and military body. I feel that Darwen had a greater role than you put across and feel that it has supported Blackburn through thick and thin and therefore deserves respect as such. And hopefully in the future this will be realised.

The recent campaign by Darwen Guerilla's in vandalising the "Blackburn Services" signs on the M65 have warranted this playing-down of Darwen's role in the war of the pies. Admittedly though, the ROF factory in Lower Darwen (although part of Blackburn, but drawing labour from Darwen) played it's part in keeping the war going for both sides, just before Blackburn forces sacked it. Other than that, Darwen is full of arrogant seperatist-ideallists who will only gain a more positive image when they realise that they cannot survive without the handouts and charity of prominent Blackburnians.
