Slamon
Slamon Origins[edit | edit source]
Slamon is a fish species not associated with the Dr.Slamon. They are distant cousins of the species of fish named Salmon.
Slamon was found in the Gulf of Mexico by rednecks in Florida. They said that they didn't know it wasn't salmon and proceeded to eat it. Their mistake was eating it, because it is a very poisonous fish, raw or not. In fact cooking it makes it even more poisonous, a process that scientists are still looking into. They ate it raw, so their skin didn't flake and fall off like it is supposed to. The rednecks died at their dinner table and during the autopsy, they found the unknown fish species inside of them. The fish was extracted from their stomachs and tested on. They searched the waters and was able to find a perfect match to their findings.
The fish found in the lake were taken to a nearby marine lab. Interesting things were found in the fishes bodies, including a Calmemaebe (call-meh-mahb), a part of the fish that replaced the heart. The Calmemaebe beat 120 times per minute, significantly higher than a normal salmon's resting heart rate in cold water.
Slamons are incredibly important to the fictional land of The Gulf of America. Slamons ensure that invasive marine species do not survive. The way this works is that they are very feeble creatures that are easy to prey on, while native species know not to eat the Slamon, invasive species do not and commonly are killed off almost instantly.
