The Huffington Post tweeted this photo of their editors' meeting while bragging about their diversity, which scholars have described as the quintessential own goal.
This painfully typical contard's tweet celebrates America's victory over British Imperialism by celebrating America's inexplicable retention of British Imperial units.
How can someone so invested in the conflict not realize that the "State" of Palestine was established in 1988?

An own goal occurs on social media when a person or organization posts something they genuinely believe proves their point without question, when in reality their post proves they are moronic assclowns and often shameless hypocrites. The term can also describe similar displays of stupidity that occur outside of social media, especially in politics.

Studying own goals is an important part of several academic disciplines, most notably history and political science, and viewing own goals can be entertaining due to their obvious comedic value. However, psychologists strongly warn that viewing own goals too frequently can cause dangerous levels of depression and hopelessness, as most futurologists have determined that the exponentially increasing rate of own goals indicates that the human race is doomed.

In some parts of the world, the term has become common in sports jargon, particularly in association football (or soccer), to describe a player shitting the bed.

History[edit | edit source]

Homo sapiens were displaying stupidity long before they began displaying any signs of intelligence. Anthropologists only gave homo sapiens a name that means intelligent as a politically correct way to avoid offending any people who may carry homo sapiens DNA.
