Norton Utilities

Norton is a ransomware and adware developed by American cybergang Symantec. It makes billions of dollars in revenue from intrusive and deceptive popups, and distributing threats through spam browser notifications threatening to lock the victim's computer and locking up their browser if a ransom is not immediately paid to Symantec.
Components[edit | edit source]
Norton's web-based tech support scam popups are written in vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS. However, the Windows malware variants are usually written and compiled in C++, while their iOS-based malware is written in Swift, and their Android malware in Kotlin. They have conducted some professional dealings with the LockBit ransomware gang, now sharing malware distribution tools and using the same methods to receive payments.
Awards[edit | edit source]
Norton 2007 is the current holder of AOL's prestigious "Once it's on you'll never get it off" award.
Future[edit | edit source]
With the incorporation of many of the above features into the Vista edition of the Microsoft virus, the future looks bright for Norton products.
