Forum:Vote for deletion
Hi all. I recently discovered one of my articles was nominated on VFD. I have no problem with this being done. By all means, if you think an article should be deleted, do nominate it. Though I would recommend if the article is by an active and/or longstanding member, that you be thoughtful about the language used in the nomination. You are more likely to succeed with your nomination if you give a convincing argument to delete than to be disparaging of it.
In the past we would, as a courtesy, give a heads up to active members or long standing members when their article is nominated. I know, we do add tags, but people make so many minor edits to articles, it's easy to miss this. A message on a users talk page is a nice courtesy, especially if you have noticed the writer hasn't voted on VFD. some of us are not active on VFD.
I really must stress, not being a prima donna about this, I have no problem with people voting to delete one of my articles, or even voting against an article being featured. But, I would strongly encourage being thoughtful of the language you use when doing so with active/long-standing members of the community and avoid disparaging comments. "WTF" as a comment on someone's writing is utterly unhelpful to someone in improving an article or their writing in general. Clear, meaningful and constructive critique is.
