The thing with placing all the Template:zorkheader-inheriting pages in Category:Zork is that folks can poke around in search of endings or secret pages , thus reducing the "gameness" of Zork. So, I'm making it so that adding Template:zorkheader no longer includes that page in Category:Zork. Is this a rash decision? --L 14:03, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think this is rash: it's a good idea which the game has been calling out for a while to stop people 'cheating'. --Hindleyite Poet Lowrate Talk 14:17, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Just make sure it's possible to find them somehow. --User:Nintendorulez 19:12, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I'd advise against this, since in general we want these pages to be categorized. For the few cases where we don't, just subst: in the template and remove the category manually. --Algorithm 21:11, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Algo. Removing the category does no good, people can still cheat with Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Zorkheader if they want to. Substing (sparingly) prevents this. --Splaka 04:16, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok, to keep everyone happy, (except L and Al and especially Hin and Nin, and myself), I've added a switch to Template:zorkheader (the category is at the top though, or else the comment seems to ends up as an extra line in the table). Just add after the other parameters in {{zorkheader}} 'nocat='. Eg: {{zorkheader|Blah|1|1|nocat=banana}}. This prevents the category being placed. This would work good with subst too, as the category would be omitted and not need to be manually removed: {{SUBST:zorkheader|Blah|1|1|nocat=banana}}. --Splaka 04:32, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Please note, however, that even with those precautions people can still explore the gamespace using Special:Allpages: [1] This is a wiki; you can't hide anything completely. --Algorithm 10:20, 1 May 2006 (UTC) (P.S. No, you can't create Zork pages outside the namespace; we'll just move them back. No, not even then. Shaddup.)
Your meddling went and broke the Zork start page and other pages, but I fixed it. Turns out you left off a line break. --L 11:24, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
"My" "meddling"? Your meddling broke it more, by removing hundreds of pages from the category. My "fix" of your meddling only slightly inconvenienced a few pages temporarily. You could have at least fixed the other 3 templates too, sheesh ^_^. And just to be complete admin bastards, since that template is used on something like 800+ pages, it should probably be protected. --Splaka 03:04, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
