On the former Octagon Square, today's Oktogon, there are four neo-Renaissance buildings designed by the architect duo Antal Szkalnitzky and Henrik Koch. - the 'tenement palace' at 49 Andrássy Avenue, on the ground floor of which the Opatija, the "golden mirror café", was opened in 1888, about whose splendour, famous guests – including Károly Eötvös, the "Vajda" – and the liberal-democrat Vilmos Vázsonyi are told numerous stories and anecdotes. The main façade of the corner building, faces to Oktogon Square and has a total of eleven axes, five of which stand on the highlighted central rizalit, and three each on the side rizalite joining from both sides and stepping back slightly. Designer: Koch Henrik and Antal Szkalnitzky. Builder/investor: Sugárút (Avenue) Construction Company Rt. Builder: no data, master builder József Pan Jr. - Year of construction: 1872-1874. Kerékpár a melléklépcsőházban. Az egykori Nyolcszög téren, a mai Oktogonon magasodik négy neoreneszánsz épület, melyeket a Szkalnitzky Antal–Koch Henrik építészpáros tervezett. - az Andrássy út 49. alatti 'bérpalota', amelynek földszintjén 1888-ban nyílt meg az Abbázia, az “aranytükrös kávéház”, melynek pompájáról, híres vendégeiről – többek közt Eötvös Károly, a “Vajda” törzsasztaláról –, és a liberális-demokrata Vázsonyi Vilmosról számos történet és anekdota szól. A zárt sorban álló saroképület főhomlokzata az Oktogon térre néz, összesen tizenegy tengelye van, amelyből öt a kiemelt középrizaliton, három-három a két oldalról csatlakozó, enyhén hátrébb lépő oldalrizaliton áll. Az épület az Andrássy úton és a Teréz körúton további négy-négy tengellyel folytatódik, bejárata az Andrássy út felől nyílik. A bérház 2020-as évekbeli alapszíne barack, a tagozatok, a díszítmények fehérre vakoltak. A lábazat alacsony, kőből készült, erre került a vakolt és sávozott, – összesen kilenc sáv – földszinti felület, amelyet a főhomlokzaton öt szegmensíves záródással kialakított nyílás tör meg. Ezek az itt található üzlethelyiség, a K&H Bank kirakatai, illetve bejárata. - Budapest100 2023.
