Alan Moore
“Sometimes, Moore is less.”
Alan Moore is the estranged cousin of James Leess. He became famous for reminding people of a children's rhyme. He also allegedly wrote some books and has a few false identities such as Curt Vile, Jill de Ray, Brilburn Logue, and Translucia Baboon although currently not known why he has those identities, it can be assumed it is for a nefarious purpose.
Life[edit | edit source]
Moore's life started in "November" 1953 in "St Edmund's Hospital" in "Northampton". He grew up in a part of Northampton famous for poverty and illiteracy, so it is no surprise he wrote comics instead of real books. In the 60's he started publishing poems and probably fell in love with the Hippie Hobo look he still has today. He also started a habit of taking LSD which got him expelled from school due to not being as cool as doing cocaine, something he doesn't recommend so there's more LSD for him.
LSD was an incredible experience. Not that I'm recommending it for anybody else; but for me it kind of – it hammered home to me that reality was not a fixed thing. That the reality that we saw about us every day was one reality, and a valid one – but that there were others, different perspectives where different things have meaning that were just as valid. That had a profound effect on me.
— Alan Moore (2003)
V for Vendetta[edit | edit source]
Moore's most famous work is the comic "V for Vendetta". In this he reminds people of the now famous children's rhyme "The fifth of November". Which was originally written around 1605 after multiple great English patriots tried blowing up the English parliament, something that has become an important tradition in many English towns. The rhyme goes as follows:
Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!
Thanks to "V for Vendetta" there has been renowned love for blowing up parliament buildings and many human rights organisations have formed inspired by the books protagonist "V", they are all marked by wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. The most famous of these organizations probably is "Anonymous".
