User:Alula/Coastline paradox
This is an article I have saved from the depths of the Mariarticle Trench. These articles are in my userspace because I personally like them and/or don't think they should be deleted despite being deletion material (either through an ICU or some other maintenance tag expiring). I have not written any of these, nor will I probably do at any point ever. If your article has found its way here then please do not move it back to where it was. |

Object Class: Esoteric
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-0696969 must not be measured in any way whatsoever. If one does happen to measure it, they will get so exhausted to the point of death. Any discovery of SCP-0696969's existence must be credited as being part of the "coastline paradox".
Description: SCP-0696969 is an anomalous effect relating to the coastlines of landmasses. SCP-0696969 will not let you find the true length of the coastline, rather making the coastline longer every time the way of measurement used gets smaller. SCP-0696969 will cause the coastlines to stretch to unfathomable lengths, which lead to the often long results scientists get from measuring coastlines with a small unit of measurement as opposed to a larger unit of measurement.
Discovery: SCP-0696969 was first discovered in 1951 by Lewis ███ █████████ when measuring the Iberian peninsula's coastline. Portugal reported their coastline to be 987 km, while Spain reported it as 1,287 km. When the SCP Foundation measured for themselves, they found the coastline to be 1,237,410 km. When using smaller measurements, the coastline only grew longer.
The following is an interview with Lewis ███ █████████:
