INT. SOME CABIN.
An average guy sits near his laptop, his eyes scanning the screen obsessively. A voiceover from the same guy ensues.
Guy
My princess has been taken by a horrible and evil monster. The poor thing. She needs me to save her from the world that's out to get her. I must save her before it's too late.
Intertitle
A humble spectator.
Guy
This is my last chance. The only way I can redeem myself. And I must. For her.
Disembodied voice
Don't we all wish we could do it? Just turn back time the moment we knew we made a mistake?
The guy works his way around a trap, only to fail and have a 70-kilo metallic chain with sharp blades all around it falling on him. Miraculously, the time rewinds and he's able to solve the puzzle correctly.
Guy
I'll never stop until she's mine. I will work forever till the end of time. Cause my heart is in her hands. I know she understands.
A ring lies in the middle of a meadow. The guy looks at it with a sense of wonder and lust.
Guy
This will be my gift to my princess! To my precious!
However, time begins to slow down the closer he gets to the ring, making it impossible for him to reach it.
Guy
No, you don't understand! I love her! I love her! I can't live without her, I won't! Please! PLEASE!!!!!
Disembodied voice
We all think we know how to love. We think we are the right ones, that we deserve the ones we desire. But we only ever know and love our idea, our perception, of the significant other.
Every pop star, ever
Of course I love my fans! I'd never be where I am without them!
Guy stumbles onto a book, which says he was a terrible boyfriend who often considered violence when dealing with his girlfriend.
Guy
No, no I'm not that guy! I AM NOT THAT GUY! YOU DON'T KNOW ME!!!
The scene shifts to him doing scientist stuff, like measuring and calculating and being cruel to animals.
Voice
And all I've ever wanted was for you to know that I'm right here! I've always, always been right here! But you could never look at me! NEVER!
Guy
I will never make those mistakes again, I just need her to believe me! And she will, I know she will!
Once again, the guy screws up a puzzle, causing him to fall down towards the spike-encrusted pit. And once again, the time rewinds, saving his ass.
Voice
Second chances, redemption. Who doesn't need them? But can we ever fully forgive ourselves, even if we tried?
Guy
There's only what comes next. What comes next.
Disembodied voice
Stop shouting! I understand you! It's okay, I understand you.
The guy sees a knight carrying his princess away.
But the princess breaks away from his grasp.
The guy leads his princess away, dismantling every trap in the way, running as fast as he can until he finds her home, but just as she gets inside, the time stands still, and the guy can't move.
The princess now runs out of the house, with the guy chasing after her. She resets the very traps he had dismantled, forcing him to work his way around them again. Just as he finds the princess again, he sees the knight, screaming "Get over here!". She rushes into the knight's arms-
-and they escape from the guy.
Disembodied voice
This is your reward. Your truth.
The guy is now inside a burning city. The words "Braid" seem to be etched into the sky, written in flames. Also, there's a constellation outside of his cabin for some reason.
