Takk...
Aaah, Sigur Ros, Takk... is an incredible band, with their ethereal, charming, orgasmic sound, this joyful harmony, this incredible chills-giving voice, all that which gives me an explosion of unnamed sensations via music, innovative sound, and instrumental variety. All of this is in Takk..., one of their albums.
To be sure that you perfectly understand what this masterpiece reaches in term of sound, as you can't yet hear it the way I do, I will have you live it through another one of your senses: with pictures.
Takk...[edit | edit source]
The album's eponymous title starts slowly. Some kind of country walk, an anxiolytic harmony which takes you by the guts and brings you to the band's place of origin, the wonderful Iceland.
You let yourself into the melody. You forget everything around you, only breathing through the instruments, taking you somewhere else. The whole world is your home. But don't get too comfortable. Get ready for what's coming. Get ready for the universe's beauty. Get ready for Glósóli.
Glósóli[edit | edit source]
The second song, Glósóli, starts just like its predecessor. On the outside, it's big calm. Then, the drums start, reminding you of the sound of feet in the snow.
You shiver as Jón starts to sing, and abandon yourself to your eardrums, which you bless for giving you such food for your soul. You imagine the Garden of Eden right in front of you.
And without any warning starts a beating, synchronizing with your heart, bringing you more and more into softness, while creating a tension in your being, which knows it's gonna get some fucked up divine sound, getting you beyond the frontiers of perfection itself. The beating turns into drum hits.
And then, BAM! You're experiencing for a few seconds the biggest storm of sweet violence you have ever known in your life, morphing your brain into a geyser of musical splendor!
At last, the flow stops. You get back on your feet, just in time for what's coming.
Hoppípolla[edit | edit source]
Quickly, your hearing shines again thanks to a piano piece reminding you the great fields of your childhood. It then evolves in a rhythmic and sung music, tickling you from toes to glottis, reminding you of the ecstasy of a shared love, and the boiling it provokes.
The music evolves again, with it its storm of dantesque beauty!
You feel that you are yourself in danger, threatened by a wonder so intense that you can't control it! Such a beauty, heading straight towards you!
And it calms down.
Með Blóðnasir[edit | edit source]
But not for long! Don't wipe the sweat coming down from your ears, it would be a time loss, as Með Blóðnasir starts right after, sudden brutality of this sublime music! Bam, like that! Like hurting your funny bone!
It doesn't stop there, a true growth in the sound's power, an almighty music, wrecking your internal organs! You lose yourself in this overwhelming flow!
Gnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Sæglópur[edit | edit source]
If you're still alive, you will discover Sæglópur. The ultimate melody. A life's acomplishment. The eternity. Musical beauty made palpable. As usual, it starts softly.
As the singer's voice raises, you start to feel something different. Sensuality bursts out.
And as the music progresses, you see other things. More and more disturbing.
And again, unexpected sensuality.
AND THEN, BANG! THE MUSICAL ORGY STARTS AGAIN!
Gnnn you can't do anything about it
Raaarglghargl fucking phets I think i'm losing it i can't control anything anymore fucking music rotten noises
I'll watch a nice movie, it might help me to get back to reality! Ouch...
Ah, this movie, what a movie! But how can I make you live it effectively? Well, imagine that...
