UnNews:Keir Starmer resigns as Prime Minister
Monday, June 22, 2026
Westminster, LONDON — Citing an "overwhelming sense of being really, really unnerved" by the growing number of Labour MPs who seek to see him replaced (and by US President Donald Trump, who prematurely claimed on Truth Social that he will indeed relinquish), Keir Starmer has announced his resignation as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, leaving behind a legacy of internet censorship child protection, postponing local elections ensuring administrative stability, going mad with a ban hammer and prohibiting ID-free living implementing essential national identity safeguards.
Whoever Starmer's successor shall be will become the country's seventh PM in a decade, continuing Britain's proud tradition of using the office to play games of musical chairs. His predecessor, self-described 'coke addict' Rishi Sunak, remains the only leader in that period not to willingly surrender, an achievement he carries with the quiet satisfaction of a man who was at least voted out rather than hounded from office. For context:
- David Cameron: Resigned after the Brexit referendum, and also out of lingering remorse for having previously placed private parts in the pusses of perished pigs.[citation needed]
- Theresa May: Destroyed by Brexit.
- Boris Johnson: Ultimately done in by being Boris Johnson.
- Liz Truss: Mistakenly elected, outlived by a lettuce, and swiftly dumped for the opponent who lost.
- Rishi Sunak: Defeated at a general election after becoming Prime Minister with precisely zero votes.
- Keir Starmer: Surrendered after becoming unnerved by plots among his own colleagues to replace him.
In his resignation speech, delivered outside №10, Sir Keir thanked the British public for the opportunity to serve, albeit briefly. "I'm not sure I've ever mentioned this before, but my dad was a toolmaker," he commenced. "He taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and making sure every screw is properly tightened. These are lessons I have carried with me throughout my time in Downing Street, even if some of my own backbenchers appeared somewhat loose in their fittings. Together, we fixed the country's foundations. We mended the NHS. We sanded down the rough edges of Brexit. And though the cabinet table may have required the occasional extra turn of the screwdriver, I leave office confident that the British people now have a slightly better-functioning set of tools."
The struggle inside the Labour Party to see who can inherit the ex-PM's aforementioned legacy and double down on it is already quietly gathering momentum. Early speculation centres on several figures, primarily Mancunian part-time DJ Andy "King of the North" Burnham and Starmer's former right-hand lady Angela "Vape Dragon" Rayner — the latter of whom evaded stamp duty before defecting to the Reform Party for a month so she could, in her words, "better understand the concerns of the working class". Rayner eventually reunited with the Labour Party, bringing with her numerous fresh tattoos and important field research. In the meantime, His Majesty The King is understood to be mildly buggered at the prospect of yet another kissing-of-hands ceremony in the near future.
