Now, i heard it differently.

I heard that on the titanic, there was a shipment of 5,000,000 jars of mayonnaise aboard. It was being shipped out of England, to New York, and then it was supposed to leave NY, and head to Mexico where it would be unloaded. But tragically, the Titanic never even made it to NY, and the people of Mexico-- distraught over loosing their mayonnaise-- created the national day of mourning in remembrance of their sunken mayonnaise:
