History[edit]

The term "Shunga" goes back to the Sino-Neanderthal words: "Shun" meaning Sex, and "Ga" meaning Art. It all started when the Sino-Neanderthal tribes got bored of drawing deer and elephants made of pubic hair on their walls, so they started making naked and sex drawings of themselves and others.

Evolution[edit]

Through the very late 20th century to today, Shunga has evolved into Hentai and various offshoots like Rule 34 of the internet and E621.
