The Gerudo are a highly pacifistic race of humanoid people. They live mainly in the gerudo desert, named after Ger Udo, but they are well known for travelling outside the desert for commerce. In order to protect themselves from lustful men and lesbians they are very strict in not allowing any foreigners to enter their village, although this has not stopped some crossdressers from entering regardless. Gerudo can also refer to the country of the Gerudo, with the capital and only town of Gerudo village.
Vexillology[edit | edit source]
There's two important symbols in Gerudo vexillology, firstly the flag of the famous flag of the Gerudo and second their beloved coat of peace.
Flag[edit | edit source]
One of the most peaceful symbols in all of Hyrule, everyone loves the flag of the Gerudo. It's basically radiating peace and friendliness. The dove in it's top left corner stands for the peaceful aspirations of the gerudo. It's surrounded by 13 stars, one for each of the members of the biweekly meeting. The 9 stripes, alternating in blue and white stand for the 8 heroines of the gerudo and one for the gerudo as a whole.
Coat of peace[edit | edit source]
The coat of peace of the gerudo is often seen on peace and diplomatic missions all over hyrule. It depicts an abstract dove, surrounded by other shapes. The dove connects them even if it's being attacked by others.
Politics[edit | edit source]
Although officially a heredetery monarchy, the gerudo are actually an anarcho-syndicalist commune with one gerudo, never the currently reigning queen, who acts as an executive officer, with a term of one week. The term limit is generally considered to be the current age in weeks of the gerudo divided by the amount of gerudo. This means assuming the current gerudo population is 1000 Gerudo, a gerudo who lived for 26 years is only allowed to be the executive officer for one term, until her age is 38 years and 24 weeks, when she's allowed to have a second term, assuming the population of gerudo village is still 1000 gerudo. Gerudo who are not currently inhabitants of gerudo village are not allowed to be the executive officer, however they are allowed to vote by letter in the special biweekly meeting ratifying all decisions of that officer.
Biweekly meeting[edit | edit source]
The biweekly meeting, necessary to ratify the decisions of the executive officer takes place on sundays in weeks divisible by 2. The meeting is attended by all gerudo and starts with the election of 13 gerudo who are temporarily seated in the council for the next meeting. These 13 gerudo then represent an equal share of the population and vote on all the proposed decisions by the executive officer. Originally all gerudo were on the council, but due to growing population it was decided to limit the council to just 13 gerudo. Unlike the executive officer, gerudo, not living in the Gerudo Town are allowed to be on the council.
Gerudo Queen[edit | edit source]

The current queen of the gerudo is Queen Riju, daughter of Queen Urbosa. While her father is officially unknown, it's assumed to be a knight of hyrule, possibly even the hero of the wind. She is able to use peaceful lightning in order to calm down everyone around her and she was able to strike a peace deal with the gibdo who temporarily attacked the gerudo after the evil princess Zelda promised them riches. Riju is well beloved by the gerudo who often push for votes to allow Riju to become the executive officer as well but Riju refuses and leaves town when she's supposed to become the officer. Citing because a moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at her she would perpetuate a supremacist violent system, repressing the peasents, by becoming the executive officer. According to her supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony and thus she's disqualified from taking executive power over her fellow Gerudo. Riju has strong support by sand seal vendors who have gifted her many seals since she was young.
The mother of Riju, Queen Urbosa, was sadly killed a long time ago by the then king of Hyrule, King Rhoam. This saddened all of the Gerudo a lot as Urbosa was generally seen positively. She proposed important reforms to the gerudos.

The history of the Gerudo started in ancient times when a group of 8 heroines decided not to be subdued by the King of Hyrule no more and help him in his wars. For this they employed the help of Ganondorf who helped protecting Gerudo village from the Hylians and putting it in a desert where they couldn't be found. The gerudo then lived peacefully for many years, usually aborting their male children in order to not risk the King of Hyrule calling on them to fight his wars. This led to the gerudo evolving to have a highly skewed male to female ratio with only one male birth every 100 years. Ever since the great calamity where King Rhoam killed the great Urbosa the Hylians have mostly left the Gerudo in peace with only the occasional crossdresser trying to infiltrate gerudo village.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The total size of the economy of gerudo village is roughly 150'000'000 Rupees/year. All the gerudo are very rich with a poverty rate of 0%. The gerudo economy is very dependent on imports, with major imports of semen and water. As the gerudo don't have men in their country the import of semen is the only way they are able to grow/sustain their current population level. While quantitatively their biggest export is probably gems, it's not their most profitable export. While Gems make 80% of the volume of goods, it's only bringing 5% of the annual gerudo revenue. Women, the second biggest export account for even less revenue with bringing only 2% of revenue while making up 19% of the total trade volume. By far the most important export of the gerudo is peace, bringing in almost all the revenue of the gerudo. The gerudo are highly skilled diplomats revered for their ability to strike peace deals between even the most hostile of people. It's said that if a gerudo is present during negotiations you better hope you don't need a war. The gerudo also manufacture lots of peaceful tools like the peacesword, the peaceshield and recently also the peacespear.
