Around 13,000 years ago, the last glaciers of the Newfoundlandian Grand Banks melted, a remnant of the last ice age. This left a uniquely-shaped island off the coast of Southwestern Canada. Some 5,000 years afterward, this island was submerged underwater due to rising water levels. Image credit: Synagoguelicker |
