Any idea what this domain is for? It was registered a few months ago:

Uncyclopediawiki.com

Domain Status: Registered And No Website
Created: 2007-05-17
Expires: 2009-05-17
Name Server: NS1.WIKIA.COM
Name Server: NS2.WIKIA.COM
Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
Probably just registered to make sure someone else doesn't. Just a guess. Oh, and if this is the case, would someone please buy Uncyclopedia.com already? I can't even imagine how many hits we lose every year because of that domain. HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 18:49, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, we buy a lot of domains for this reason. Some are redirected to the correct address, others are just to stop the squatters. We can't get every name of course, but we try to get the most important. I'm not sure what happened with uncyclopedia.com, it looks like someone else got there first. Possibly they are asking silly money for it -- sannse (talk) 21:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I say we trademark Uncyclopedia, then sue the fucker. -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. (Harass) 06:06, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, lots of people have gotten to the name Uncyclopedia before us. So, in theory, they could do the same to us. Unless we kill them all. But that's the admins' job.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 21:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Bad-faith cybersquatting is illegal, so in theory you can sue the fucker, if the owner is a fucker, that is. --thematrixeætsyou, the (adjective) (talk) (flames) 00:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Well then the real question is, is this David Manz fellow a fucker? Either way, his registration of Uncyclopedia.com expires October 2, 2007. Maybe at that point some money can be allotted towards this cause. --THINKER 08:24, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
It appears that David is (or was) legit; he did attempt to start a personal site as "uncyclopedia.com" just after the turn of the millenium but the project never got off the ground. There is a copy of it (less than five pages) on archive.org. He abandoned the project in 2001 but kept the domain, which has been sitting "parked" as linkspam ever since. If he believes the name to be worth ten thousand dollars, I'd expect that he'll just keep renewing it instead of allowing it to expire - even though there has been no useful content there for years. If he does have prior use of the name, we're screwed. Nice, huh? --Carlb 09:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Apparently .com domains are more valuable than .org, according to most of the automated free domain appraisal tools. Most likely tens of thousands of dollars, so a mite bit prohibitive:
dnscoop.com estibot.com leapfish.com
uncyclopedia.com $889 $27,000 $34,125
uncyclopedia.net $109 $850 $19
uncyclopedia.org $4,608,520 $25,000 $9,720
uncyclopedia.info $75,260 $38,000 $378
My Site is worth
$4,608,520

Man, if dnsscoop is anything to go by, I'd be willing to bet that chronarion will be kicking himself now. Quite a lot. Spang talk 09:03, 28 Jul 2007
Indeed. Google was playing some rather nasty games with uncyclopedia.org's pagerank in the months leading up to Chron selling us down the river. As these valuations do seem to take the rank of a domain on Google and Alexa (as well as the number of search engine hits) very seriously, a site with pagerank of zero could be evaluated as worth a few million dollars less. Ouch. --Carlb 05:07, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Redirect these?

Any chance that the various names already registered, such as désencyclopédie.com, desciclopédia.net, inciclopedia.org, desciclopédia.info, uncyclopediawiki.com and however many others are out there, could be redirected to the real sites instead of just failing to resolve? I presume it would get us a few more hits, at least. --Carlb 15:48, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, it would get us more hits. Sadly, not as many links as your mirrors are taking away. Can you add the propper links to the uncyclopedias instead of just failing to resolve. Dude, you are amazingly hypocrite when it comes to this matters. One who preffer to hide and keep silent instead of facing the same accusations he himself is so quick to threw upon others.---Asteroid B612B612.jpg (aka Rataube) - Ñ 20:17, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Um, why was Wikia registering and re-registering Desciclopédia under multiple top-level domains? Brazil's wiki isn't and never was owned by Wikia. --205.150.76.41 16:10, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
That was requested by the Desciclopédia community when they were considering moving to Wikia. Since then they decided to wait and see how Carl's servers go. -- sannse (talk) 07:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
The Desciclopédia community was only aware of one of the domains - presumably info. The rest was discovered via whois. --Carlb 05:07, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia is worth $2,275,920 by 03/08/07 expected to reach $500,000,000 by 2012 and so is MSN made by Bill Gates, the wiener and software guy from three weeks after it was made.
