Welcome to my talk page. If you want to talk to me, please follow these simple rules to keep things easy for me.

  • If you started a conversation here, I will respond here, so you should watch my talk page instead of expecting an orange box to appear.
  • If you are talking about only one page, you should include a wikilink to that page (preferably as a word in a sentence). If you are talking about a section of a page, you can use section links instead.

Minimalism[edit source]

thanks. Minimalism looks beautiful now. --epynephrin 02:06, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. I just removed some line breaks, changed a section header, and changed the stub. --Sbluen 02:59, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[Insert vague bewilderment here][edit source]

So I guess my idea for Insert title here didn't work. All right, that's cool. Might I ask why exactly you changed it back? --Lenoxus 20:18, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, I just got your message. Thanks for the explanation. I'm wondering: could I make some of the changes you're suggesting (fixing "insert" inconcsistancies, etc.) and see how that works? --Lenoxus 20:25, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Incomplete[edit source]

I've expanded the Incomplete article in response to the NRV. I'd thought the first version may have conveyed the idea well enough, but we already have brevity, after all, so in hindsight I see the NRV as justified. I left the NRV despite having expanded the article as, while there is more content, most of it is still brief. I thought I'd leave it to others to decide whether the quanity has added sufficient quality. I do not expect that I, personally, will be able to add much value to it beyond this point. --Saracoth 05:36, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for expanding that article. I put the NRV tag on the page because it was very short, I thought its authors could have abandoned this page, and, because it had only a few words, not many ideas would be forgotten when the administrators delete it. Most of the articles that are created are quickly deleted or are deleted when their NRV tag expires.
In the future, you can put articles that you plan to create in a subpage of your user page. That way, the administrators won't delete it.
Here are some articles that you may be interested in.
--Sbluen 08:16, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. I'd started with the idea of a lengthier article, but as I worked I feared more content would detract the effect, so I cut what I'd started on. I honestly hadn't planned to do any further work until the NRV, but the end result is better than I'd expected, so I'm honestly grateful for it. I'd read the n00b articles, but I guess some things just can't be picked up from reading them alone :)
Thanks again for the warm welcome ;)
--Saracoth 14:15, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Just wanted to say thanks for referring a user to the HowTo article. I wrote the original article (I can't take full credit for its current state, since many other uncyclopedians helped to improve it and make it more useful), but I think it's great that people are using it. I think it's important for new users to understand how to go about creating here without having to deal with NRVs and similar things. It's just going to work better if people can create without having the "society for deletionism" looking over their shoulder the whole time. --Hrodulf 21:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. I agree that people should use that HowTo article. It should be moved to "Uncyclopedia:How To Get Started on Editing Uncyclopedia" so that uncyclopedians will use it and take it seriously. Also, there should be more links to it. --Sbluen 22:54, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Following my own advice from the article, I'll take that to the Village Dump. Thanks for the suggestion. --Hrodulf 13:20, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I created the forum discussion at:

Forum:Proposal to move "HowTo:Get Started on Editing Uncyclopedia" to "Uncyclopedia:How To Get Started on Editing Uncyclopedia"

Thanks for the idea again.

--Hrodulf 13:30, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Btw, it got be banned for one day for reviving a "months old forum topic with assinine comments" or something, but I did get the namespace changed to 'Unncyclopedia:' Thanks for the help. Now I'm trying to get the link placed in the welcome template. --Hrodulf 13:45, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

dear Sbluen[edit source]

i belive you tagged my article about DKS (Drunk keyboard syndrom)NRV. i think the article is fine as it is, it demonstrates exactly what the DKS is. – Preceding unsigned comment added by Prf. Strangelove (talk • contribs)

I put the NRV tag on the article because it was short, it didn't have a stub template, and it didn't have any links. I replaced the NRV tag with the {{tubs}} and {{deadend}} tags. This article still needs some links. --Sbluen 16:56, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

I am Dying[edit source]

Hiya, I see you tried successfully to save the NRV feature I am dying. I had attempted to save it... it didn't work... it was hideous before... I salute you! --Fish 22:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

That article Isn't deleted yet. You just forgot that the last word in its title is capitalized. Its title is I am Dying.
In case it becomes deleted, my favorite part is the stub that I made. The original author removed it after rewriting the article. It looked like this:
{{Allstubs1|desparate attempt to get help|dying|an agonizing [[death]]|reviving him}}
I also copied that article to a subpage that you can find in my user page.
--Sbluen 23:06, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Ya know, I was the original author, and I don't recall removing any such tag. What I do recall is getting my page deleted. Look it up in the history. Me=original author and original author=didn't rewrite.--Emmzee 22:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm Sorry. I got confused and thought 85.146.124.73 was the author because he was the first user who discussed the page and the first part of his comment said it was his first-time-try to write an article. --Sbluen 23:45, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

>(Revert. Please make your changes without removing links.)

I don't know if it's necessary to mention this, but I certainly did not mean to remove the links, I guess I was just careless. I copied & pasted the whole thing from a binary translator when I only really needed to paste one character. --Naughtius Maximus Leaf.jpg F@H Woof!Za slice.jpg MeowMUN 14:59, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
In the future, you should look for different characters and translate each binary section individually. This is easier to do with the leetkey], which allows you to translate without copying or pasting and allows you to also translate other encrypted pages. --Sbluen 22:57, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Bias.[edit source]

Hey ! thanks for the neutrality template. ! It's spot on !. I forgot about that one !.

Anyway, You'll get an award for that later .

ps. Do you have any clue how to properly use the word bias in a sentance . You see, i'm like ( whipser ). Dutch and have no ******* clue how to properly align that word!.

Thanks. Vosnul 18:00, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

You may want to see the dictionary definition for bias and other words you din't know how to properly use in a sentence. --Sbluen 18:19, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
I did, But when looking at real world examples much confusion there was. The Dutch term for bias is a bit more general and commonly used. - Vosnul 18:25, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Deep Note[edit source]

I've been working on some of those articles (basic article on James "Andy" Moorer von Beethoven; THX is right now a redirect because I couldn't think of anything more creative) – do you think it should be ready about now-ish? Thanks, Martinultima 18:41, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but that article can still be improved. It is too neutral. It is missing the funny biased point of view. --Sbluen 15:54, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

This is not a page[edit source]

Oh, sorry, I didn't know about misleading. Huff it then, I can't really think of any way to expand it. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC Icons-flag-gb.png MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. Double Sigh. 08:09, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I added that page to Uncyclopedia:Votes for deletion. --Sbluen 00:34, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Award For You[edit source]

Thanks for the award. I converted most of the templates on the Uncyclopedia:Templates/Maintenance and Uncyclopedia:Templates/Content management pages. Seeing many templates listed with their links on one page helped a lot because it allowed me to find all the html tables without clicking every link from the categories. --Sbluen 23:46, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I had to make similar amendments to the featured imaged section the other day (a lot less work that the html conversion) but its great to be able to find everything in one place. Great work, in any case... :) -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Download now[edit source]

Is this page good enough now?Download Now! CCTCGAGAATTTAACAAA ill remove the tag anywho but please let me know--Silent Penguin 15:27, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but that page still can be improved. It it has several typos and it needs more links. --Sbluen 15:54, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

its hard to fit links into the page when there isnt much to link to, its part of a wider joke from the DNA page, it it isnt ment to just be stumbled apon like most other pages i mean who is going to serch for a name like that, so its hard to make a full blown article from it. Also im a bad speller so i just use a spell checker i just hadnt finished sorting it out at the time you read it, i was busy with stuff and didnt have time--Silent Penguin 18:17, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start[edit source]

I laughed out loud when I read this article, so I was shocked to see it on VFD. I found it to be a clever parody. I guess if you don't know what it's talking about, it's not funny.... but isn't that true of most parodies? I cleaned up the article some and made the references more obvious (I figure just about everyone knows what Nintendo is), so hopefully now more people will "get the joke". (There's a lot of stuff in there that sounds random but really isn't once you know what it's referring to.) I also added links and expanded the article a bit.

How does it look now? Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start

- 69.139.77.86

I think you improved that article enough to keep it. However, it still needs more commas and wikilinks. --Sbluen 22:59, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for taking another look at it. So, more wikilinks, you say? I guess that means more expansion, as you didn't add any wikilinks in your recent tidying edit. Sounds very doable, especially considering that the relevant articles on WikiPedia are giant in comparision:

I kinda like it how it is now, short and sweet without being tiny, but it seems the preference here is for the long form. I'm not sure why every article has to be a biblical epic--I think some jokes work better compactly then in a drawn out manner--but in this case I agree that there is more untapped potential. I'll try to add more when I'm inspired, and see where it goes.

Eleven[edit source]

Hi. I originally created a page for Eleven, but it was deleted for being one line, since I didn't have any other ideas. That was last year. I noticed earlier this week that someone else had created one using a similar idea, but it was marked NRV, so I took my first line and expanded the page a bit and added some links. I do have a few more ideas to work with now, but could you have a look and see if the page is fit to read? Thanks. 216.45.165.99 00:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

I think that article is good enough to keep. However, articles are better when they are written in a consistent style. One half of an article shouldn't be about beer when the rest is about a number. You may also want to read this article. --Sbluen 03:22, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

VFD Archives[edit source]

Yeah, don't worry about it. My fault mostly, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew the page had been deleted. I didn't really think about the archive things... HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 04:33, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Deadend[edit source]

Just a note: {{deadend}} is mostly for keeping pages from being listed on Special:Deadendpages that aren't vandalism. It shouldn't really be used on pages that have too few links, but pages that have NO links prior to the template's placement. --Splaka 04:34, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me about that template. I still have a few questions about it.
  • How can I point out pages that have too few links?
  • What should I do when all the links are in the templates?
  • What should I do with the pages that are both ugly and a dead end?
--Sbluen 04:51, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Ugly is a good template for too few links. If the article is new, try

{{NRV|~~~~~|fix=Please add some links!}} too. If all the links are in maintenance templates, then you can add deadend at the same time (but if there are existing templates there, you probably shouldn't, as it isn't a dead end.) --Splaka 04:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again for your explanation. I think we should make a new policy or expand an existing policy with this information. I started working on this and what to do with the other maintenance templates and the special pages on my subpage. --Sbluen 21:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Gogh or No Gogh[edit source]

Hey, I spent some time on the Van Gogh article and not all of us are instant geniuses with regards to syntax for formatting. It was the best I could do and even that took awhile. What do you mean by 'links'? Where? Do you think the article is funny? In my opionion it has as much value as Ernest Hemingway's Cookery Corner.--Shandon 22:11, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

See the style guide and this article at wikipedia for help with formatting and using links. I think that article might be funny for some people after its formatting is fixed. --Sbluen 22:36, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I looked at the Deletion log and saw that Tompkins deleted that article by accident and has restored that article a few minutes later.
Also, please do not blank your articles, especially when you aren't logged in. Blanking is a kind of vandalism and the admins may block you for vandalizing pages that you didn't create. Instead, you should nominate your articles for deletion. See this article for more information. --Sbluen 06:10, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

X3[edit source]

I've totally rewritten this article, does it have any redeeming features now?

I think you expanded that article enough to keep it. But I still don't like it because it doesn't have enough links and it has too much random humor and I don't think it's funny.

Arabs[edit source]

I'll let you deal with this page, if you like. I reverted to the NRV as opposed to construction because the only apparent construction was the addition of that list, and because the creator of the page removed the template himself, which is a big no-no. If you have some hope for the page, however, go ahead and leave the under construction, but when that IP reverts to that list again and I ban him, I doubt much more will be added. (Not that anything of value would be added anyway) --Spin 18:26, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Deletion[edit source]

I know how to look at the history and i know the policy...I was just being lazy. And actually if you look at the QVFD page, articles that have been NRV'd by admins are frequently deleted. I'm just trying to get rid of some crap clogging up the site, and I was just doing it as quickly as possible. sorry if it created problems, but in the end most of those will be huffed anyway. Paradise Lost/Episode Guide[edit source]

Hate to bother ya, but I think it was you who had said they found the first two paragraphs of the above article subpage boring (before it was quickly pulled from VFH). Since it was just a subpage, it was no biggie. But I saw your comment and I couldn't agree more, so I tried to tweak it a little, hopefully injecting a bit more funny in there. I warn you, I didn't do a whole lot, just a few things. Anyway, think you'd mind reading 'em and telling me what you think, or offering other suggestions if you've got any (and what do you think of the article as a whole)? Thanks in advance. -- Imrealized 14:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, but I still don't like that page. I looked at the pictures and a few other sections and I didn't understand most of them and what they are about. I don't know how to improve it. --Sbluen 21:58, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Canada[edit source]

That was a tad arbitrary and harsh wasn't it? Especially since a lot of those little edits were tweaks to my earlier contributions, and you reverted them before I even got a chance to review them in context with the rest of the article. The least you could do is get a second opinion from the other admins who watch the page (and who've been a hell of a lot more tactful in criticizing my contributions.)--Tooltroll 08:22, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the re-revert. Sorry if I came across a little harsh myself, but I'd just spent a couple of hours fiddling with different spellings, etc., and had jumped to make a comment on another talk page (which turned out to be pointless stupidity on my part) and, poof! my edits had disappeared in a puff of revert in, like, ten minutes, with nothing more constructive than "stupid edits" for a reason. I'd still appreciate some feedback- obviously, something about my edits rubbed you the wrong way, and I won't know why unless you enlighten me.--Tooltroll 11:39, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I saw that you only added a link to erection in one edit, something that many vandals add, so I assumed that your edit was was vandalism. I didn't bother to look at the other contributions. --Sbluen 12:44, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Heh. Feces occur. I'd actually added that link 'cause I wasn't sure how many people would get the "wood" reference. . . Thought a not-so-subtle hint was in order. Thanks again.--Tooltroll 18:23, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
I've been pondering an article for awhile now, and got around to actually outlining some of it, and even filling in some bits. If you'd care to offer any comments/suggestions/zany ideas, it'd probably help the puir wee beastie. Thx, Tooltroll 03:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanx for those. A question, though: I recall reading somewhere in the n00b handbook that adding a few 'broken' links was acceptably humourous, so I put in that ludicrous transcripted excerpts link (with the notion that it would stay 'dead'), just because it's so cumbersome and technical sounding. NRV Opinion[edit source]

Hey man, since like all you do here is VFD, NRV, QVFD, etc. I want your opinion on something. I NRV'd the article Chicks on Speed, and the author of the page apparently feels it was unjustified. Pimpin' article[edit source]

Thanks for pointing out that my article wasn't in satisfactory condition (it's ugly). Sorry to bother you but could you be so kind as to tell me what must be edited to improve it? I've already done some changes but I would like to know if it's ok or what I have to improve on. Thanks – Preceding unsigned comment added by S boy (talk • contribs)

Your Pimpin' article would look better if it was pimped up with more wikilinks the middle of it. Some words inside of sentences should be linked to other articles. See this page and this collection of articles at wikipedia for more information. --Sbluen 04:09, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Hey thanks for the tip, and sorry to once again bother you but after I added these new links, Is it in satisfactory condition? Sorry to cause issues. S-boy 14:17, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, It's okay now, but it isn't a very good article. See HTBFANJS for information on how to improve it and these articles for examples of the best articles. --Sbluen 16:44, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the vote. You just helped fulfill one of the more obscure prophecies in the Book o' Revelations.--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 05:05, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

NRV[edit source]

Please delete 13 painful but rarely fatal sins ASAP. I completely agree, we wouldn't want uncyclopedia to fill up with nonsense! --Darkfred 22:36, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

I put it on QVFD. It should be deleted soon. --Sbluen 22:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
LOL, thank you, you have saved the internets! I can only pray that you acted in time to stop it from spreading. --Darkfred 22:50, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Since you are now my friend I must tell you that I have nominated myself for adminship. Please support my masterly grab for power. --Darkfred 23:02, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, but you're not ready for it right now. You also didn't read the rules, so User:Mhaille removed your nomination. --Sbluen 23:08, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I know, I probably haven't saved the encyclopedia from enough nonsense yet, mostly just added it. But I will definately vote for you. --Darkfred 23:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for admitting your mistakes and now planning to vote for me. Now you just have to wait for another admin to vote for me and then you can also vote.
I didn't realize that Mhaille only added the rule after you nominated yourself, so you didn't see it. --Sbluen 08:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
It is exactly for this reason that I will be voting for you. I value your skills in rushing to judgement and especially your campaign to remove non-serious content from what is essentially a joke book. This sort of subtle dadaist ironic humor delights me. I have laughed more at your changelists then at any other part of this wiki. Keep up the good work! --Darkfred 17:18, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
And yes, I realize that replying in this fashion has set up a sort of ironic recursion, and then again with this post, but for me this only serves to heighten the thrill. I am getting goosebumps right now thinking about it. ohhhh yeah. I guess we all have our own little hobbies. --Darkfred 17:24, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
The block log is much funnier than my changes. I only put humor in them because I was bored.
And if you want a real recursive conversation where you tell everyone to shut up, you should have a look at Talk:Incompleteness_Theorem. --Sbluen 18:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
