Better late than later[edit source]

Thank you
Geez, now don't I feel like an idiot. I forgot to thank you for voting me Noob of the Month...back in August 2009. While I disappeared shortly after receiving the award, I have now, like Spiderman, decided to live up the responsibility of wielding it's power. If you, like Jesus, can find it in your heart to forgive me, please send $1 to Forgetful Man P.O Box 5564 NSW, Australia.

Thanks for the vote. Sequence 05:50, January 19, 2010 (UTC)

Kurdish Military Industries[edit source]

I voted Keep despite you and Mahmoosha. To hell with him, this is fixable. In fact, he has tagged the article with {WIP} and done some editing himself. I see you are at work at History of Great Britain to the clear benefit of all, but at VFD I asked you to see if you have photos of ordnance that you could drop into the KMI article. Spıke ¬  13:54 20-Jan-10

Yeah, to hell with me.. Anyway, anyone of you two is going to help me with it? I'm not going to do it all by myself. FreddThe Metalhedd 22px-Flag_of_Egypt.png 18px-Foxicon.png 13:59 • Wednesday, 20-01-2010
As I reply on my talk page, I'm going to give you as much rope as you need to hang yourself, then arrive later and edit your grammar! Spıke ¬  14:30 20-Jan-10

It is mid-day over there, Fredd apparently is still on the toilet (no additional details, Fredd), and the article is still essentially blanked. If he doesn't show up today, I'm going to revert it to the last version I worked on, which at least was funny in places. Spıke ¬  11:53 21-Jan-10

That's OK , I admit finding illustrations or jokes about Kurdish Military Industries short of humour ammunition. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:19, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

Then are you moved to help flesh out User:SPIKE/Plectrum? Spıke ¬  16:08 23-Jan-10

History of Great Britain[edit source]

Hi Romartus. Hope you don't mind but I split the non-history related sections from History of Great Britain and created seperate articles for them. If this interfers with your rewrite, feel free to revert my changes. MadMax 23:18, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

No that is fine by me for now. I am going to finish for the night now anyway. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 23:35, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

I added an image gallery if you're looking for some images. I think with the right caption, some of them could be pretty good. MadMax 18:12, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

I also just reverted a bunch of questionable edits by some users I've never heard of. I'll let you look through the history and see if there's anything there you'd like to keep. -OptyC Sucks! Icons-flag-us.png CUN18:14, 4 Feb
Thanks Opty. I am trying to do a first run through with this so it looks finished. Then will go back and edit/add photos etc. I seem to work better that way and I know the subject pretty well so I have no excuse, though I welcome any new ideas/areas to cover. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:24, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
What a menagerie is lining up to edit this article that didn't exist a week ago! I'm looking at the History and imagining the bar-room scene in Star Wars. Spıke ¬  20:34 4-Feb-10

So...[edit source]

Uncle-Dad.jpg Uncle-Dad thanks you in the only way he knows:
a long glass of moonshine and an hour with
his niece-wife.

Though thankful, I was somewhat perplexed by your vote. On a previous nomination you voted against, but on this nomination you gave quite a positive vote for. The thing is, nothing about the article changed in the meantime. Normally getting a for vote out of you is as difficult as moving something large and lumpy through a rather small window. If I may ask, why the change of heart? IronLung 22:23, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Ah...well unless I was voting for the wrong article. Or perhaps I had clean forgotten I had voted the other way. Anyways Iron Lung you are welcome to my vote all the same for this one.--Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:54, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Work[edit source]

You cast the single vote against my article on Work, with which, it may surprise you to learn, I agree: It does drag at the end. Section 1 is complete new material, whereas Sections 2 and 3 I merely cut back--not deleting in their entirety, as a sop to those who had gone before me. For example, the essay on Work in the First through Third Worlds originally meandered along until it got to about the Eighth World. Do you concur that Section 1 (with its subsections promoted) would now stand on its own as the entire article, and that I should delete everything afterward except the See Also? (See my separate message to you, above.) Spıke ¬  21:17 23-Jan-10

Since this has now been featured, I would leave it as it is for now. I think you did a pretty good job in getting it fixed and improved to the state it is now. Perhaps it might need a later visit but at the moment I am working on the History of Great Britain which at the moment has a latent problem in that Great Britain as a historical construct didn't really legally exist until 1707 with the Act of Union between Scotland and England. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 11:51, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't let historical reality stand between you and humor. But please answer my question anyway, as any further changes I made to Work would not affect the featured version. Spıke ¬  12:21 25-Jan-10

I had another check on the article. It's main problem still for me is that appears to be more about work in the USA with the rest of the world tacked on . So perhaps it was better titled Work in the USA, an article about work in general would have to be more pseudo philosophical and I would have written something about work being the invention of Martin Luther in 1517 when he spent all night writing his theses against the Catholic church and then nailed them on a door. It would link up with the idea of the' Protestant Work Ethic' etc. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:43, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

That is a new complaint, and a valid one, though I'm not as able to carry forward as I am to describe the absurdities of the US system. However, your historical ideas will find expression in my next pass through the article; thanks again. Spıke ¬  14:06 26-Jan-10

"Work order"[edit source]

Could you develop your Martin Luther thing into a section with two or three other milestones in the History of Work? I'll copy-edit it, insert it into Work (replacing the bit about Pharaoh killing the Gods)(or you can install your stuff right into the article), and reorganize the US-specific stuff into its own section as you proposed. Spıke ¬  13:23 2-Feb-10

Excellent clean-up of Work and the Pharaohs. I've done a clerical pass on it; also moved it to Section 2, preceding the US-specific stuff, which is now Section 3. I assume you have yet to add the Martin Luther episode and any others; otherwise, tell me if you're done and I'll adapt it myself. Spıke ¬  21:26 3-Feb-10

I have added a bit about Luther and Calvin, Puritan fathers etc. I think you may get my drift in that piece. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:46, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for more excellent work. I polished it up and added one paragraph about Martin Luther working overtime, and a final section on the Protestant work ethic in the US. I think your original concerns are addressed and the article is much better now. Spıke ¬  14:30 4-Feb-10

Pharaoh[edit source]

I just added some links, and followed one of them, and the article Pharaoh is looking pretty stubby and could benefit from your help. As you seem to know something about Pharaohs. Spıke ¬  02:39 4-Feb-10

That does look a bit sad. I will note it down.--Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:45, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Laird Hamilton[edit source]

Dude! Thanks for not voting no. You gotta love the nut, he's freakin' crazy. Laird's only problem is the ocean is such a wimp! Stay cool!--Funnybony 04:11, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Late thanks[edit source]

We appreciate your discerning judgment and shrewd disposition in voting for HowTo:Write Colin Meloy Lyrics, even though the author is a ne'er-do-well and never pealed a steeple bell.

War on Drugs[edit source]

Not here to bitch about the against vote - that's why people can vote. But "incomplete" in which way in particular? Lack of a concluding paragraph? --Sog1970 15:31, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

It sort of stopped dead as an article where I would have thought it needed a concluding paragraph to incorporate your other themes in the piece. Though there was nothing wrong with the Vikings etc incursions, I felt that there were really deserving to made into articles in their own right. So what I am saying is I thought that your article was trying to cover a lot of ground where for me the idea you can have a 'War on Drugs' is akin to other like 'War on Terror' or 'War on the Missing Apostrophe'. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:26, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
I'd agree about a summarising paragraph. But i don't think there's enough scope for an article on each of these various peoples being wasted while fighting. I'm pretty sure that there are already articles on Vikings, Incas etc. On another note, this is very unfinished, but you may have a thought. --Sog1970 14:42, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
