National Try To Assassinate The President Day reskin

April 22nd is coming up fast so I've thrown up a main page reskin at Babel:Ap. It's a parody of the MPAA's you can click but you can't hide message placed on sites they shut down. This would be a non-traditional reskin, so all the images could be links to the real main page. Also, could you please copy the contents of MediaWiki:Skin/Babel:APPL.css to MediaWiki:Skin/Babel:Ap.css so that all the MediaWiki stuff is invisible a la Babel:APPL. - Nonymous 20:35, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

All right, sounds fine. --—rc (t) 01:40, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Also I forgot, can you add the line Babel:Ap to the MediaWiki:Uncyclopedia.js reskin list? - Nonymous 02:08, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Done, but check me, I'm not a tech guy. --—rc (t) 03:18, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

DYK(e) submissions

I noticed you and User:Epynephrin having a bit of a disagreement over Uncyclopedia:DYK submissions, but before that, I noticed this strange blanking of big swatches of DYCK. Was this sanctioned? Was it vandalism? I didn't wanna try to fix it myself since you've edited it already... but... well, still looks wrong? PS, you're a slut! --Splaka 04:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

The history is screwed up. Maybe it was the server problems or whatever happened this morning. I was the one who removed all those entries after updating the main page DYK template, but the diffs are showing otherwise. And there's no disagreement with Epynephrin - if you mean my "come on, people" edit summary, that was just me moving DYK submissions up to the actual submission section instead of the lower section which contained the current DYKs. Poo Lit Voting

“THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NO ONE TELLS ME WHAT TO DO AND I DON'T BOTHER TO ASK HOW!”

RC, because I've been occupied, and Major Gwax reminded me to vote - ON THE DAY OF THE DEADLINE - here are my last minute Poo Lit votes. Fundage

RC - how does a guy contribute monies around here? I'd like to see this site keep going, and though you guys never ask for cash, I'm sure a little wouldn't hurt. Or it could - if it was counterfeit. But mine's not - you can see the ghostly watermark of that founding father what won the battle of 1812. Creepy. — 2nd Lt. Sir David, the Weasel of Wild KUN VFH FP Icons-flag-us.png Fire! 21:51, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Well, we're hosted for free by Wikia through Google ads, so we don't have to worry about hosting fees. If there's anything else we might need money for, tech-wise, you could ask Chron. Aside from that the only thing I can think of is sponsoring future writing competitions, if we have them (and I hope we do, though I probably won't be organizing the next one :) ), and cash for the admin heroin fund. —rc (t) 22:51, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, my broker did say investing in a humor wiki was a bad idea. I checked, and sure enough, UNC on the NASDAQ is listed at -0.01. How, I'm not sure. But that's worth less than Enron! — 2nd Lt. Sir David, the Weasel of Wild KUN VFH FP Icons-flag-us.png Fire! 00:12, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Activate the reskin?

It's NTTATPD, can you activate the reskin? I just noticed that it coincides with the release of The Sentinel. Neato. - Nonymous 00:33, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Usually I start them around 10-midnight Pacific - that way they last for the entirety of the day for American Uncyclopedians (our biggest constituency) and are there in the morning when the Brits (second biggest) wake up. If you're around at that time and I haven't switched it over yet (I should be around tonight but I can't be sure), you can check into the IRC room and ask another admin to do it, or just see from Recent Changes who's active and ask them. —rc (t) 00:38, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Because that image only had a total of about one vote (or maybe zero, one of them was ambiguous) and that's hardly worthy to be featured on the front page...for the time being, if there's nothing with a significant number of votes on VFP, I'm just not going to feature an image and have all the currently featured images at their regular weights. —rc (t) 14:18, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

The Truth At Last

I was pleased to see you finally advertise your personal stable of sockpuppets on your user page. I hope that it is a predecent that all admins will follow, in time.  :) Because I haven't been banned yet (or ever, actually—was this an administrative oversight?), I'm taking it as tentative approval that the 37 or so (who can keep track?) puppets that I personally operate (or have operated) are Cabal-Approved™.

Hmmm. This was supposed to be a thank you note for your well wishes on my page. So, thank you. :) I have been having fun with my kiddies. The 3 month old said "Mama" yesteday for the first time, so we're all agush around here.  :) Unfortunately, I have not a single article to contribute to the Uncyc rubbish pile, so the "triumphant return" you'd hoped for will be less so. I'm relieved there was no parade planned.

Fortunately, it seems like there is a wealth of talent around here, uncovered by the Poo Lit contest. So, I intend to rest on my WotM laurels and watch some other contenders duke it out in the ring, and probably hand a folding chair to my favorite(s) while one of my puppets distracts the referee.  :) ~ T. (talk) 11:38, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Bah, you think that's all the socks I have? I didn't even mention my ranks of spambots and flamepuppets, just my Mediawiki testers.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy...what would it be now, semi-retirement or semi-unretirement? Whatever it is, enjoy it. I'm trying to decide whether to ease up on my Uncyclopeding for the summer...first I have to find something else to do in its place, I suppose... ;) —rc (t) 17:41, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Yahoo!

Well, it's tied for number 1, currently, and the fact is, it'll be hard as Hell to feature. I might be easier to do as a reskin than a traditional feature. What are your thoughts?--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 12:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Just had a chat over this (mine's the other article thats tied!!!!) and I agree with Brad that Yahoo! would work better as a reskin, losing the rest of the Uncyclopedia navigation from the front page. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Sure, that's fine. Just pick a date for it and I'll feature Colossus of Barbie Segregation (sigh) Biggles today. —rc (t) 03:39, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Except that I'm not even changing the article today, so ignore that detail. —rc (t) 03:59, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

I have also included a link to Maine Page on the Yahoo! page, so that if anyone wants to go there, they can. I thought it might be fun to claim that Yahoo! is being featured on the 306th anniversary of Gulliver's birth, but that of course is rediculous and only a weak pretense. It's up to you, if you wanna put an explanation of why Yahoo! is the reskin in the featured article space. It'd be different, if nothing else.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 19:13, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Acctually my hard drive is being a bitch (its full) so I'll need to dump some stuff before I can resize the image. I say go ahead with the mainpage. --ZB 20:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

...emptying the harddisk as we speak...but what dimensions? And this may take more work then I expect, cause ill have to reimport the icon pictures...I say set a date and I'll work towards it...damn I hate deadlines...and I got exams to "study" for...shit shit shit...what dimensions? --ZB 00:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Crap... I didn't think pulling the "you already said you would" argument would actually work. Um... crap. I'm horrible with dimensions. I'd actually just do trial and error and see how that went, if it was me (assuming that's not a rediculous suggestion. Man, I need to learn how to gimp). Um, I need it to fill the screen, so about 1000 px across, I guess... I dunno. Go with that estimate.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 02:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Just tell me when you guys decide on a date. —rc (t) 01:19, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I mean, I'm not against public displays of affection, but really...all over my talk page? —rc (t) 07:28, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Rc, Brad, I can't change the picture size. When it gets to be about 500 px in width, potochop deciedes it only wants to save in .tiffs. I don't think I can upload .tiffs, but even if I could, my hard disk (in all of its 3 GB free glory) isn't big enough for me to save said image. Hence, I move to just keep image at the current resolution, and place the Yahoo! skin on the mainpage when ever you feel like it Rc. I think that it is a joke in and of its self that the image is looks poorly done. --ZB 21:50, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok.  :/ Well, thanks for trying, anyway. If I can't get a righteous soul to do a better one (which seems unlikely at this point), I guess it's a go tonight, RC. (I hate intentional crappitude, but I guess it can't be helped. Grr.)--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 23:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
What resolution do you want it? 1000x? --Splaka 02:58, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Sure, sounds good to me (is clueless... go with what looks good is my motto) ;).--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 03:17, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
speaking of pretence for the reskin... what'd you think of the fact that our reskin coincided with Yahoo! announcing their new front page?--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 14:53, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
They probably saw the reskin and were scared they couldn't keep up with us, so they had to change things. They had to evolve to survive. —rc (t) 21:01, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

On another topic, not quite worth a heading: I've fucked with Template:VFH. It now includes the code to place Template:FA in hidden (white) text. It includes the current revision ID (last edit) as well as the current date (right that moment) saving thinking on the part of the FA implementor. I've made the text visible for you. Try it out, see if it works. Does anyone else swap the templates for features on a regular basis? --Splaka 20:53, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

That works and is darn cool, thanks. I'm the only one who regularly switches the templates. —rc (t) 03:07, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Whats the Score?

Thanks for the recent edits on my User page....much appreciated. On another note I was looking through some of the voting responses on VFH and came up with "an idea". At the moment the Score is shown with the Against votes taken away from the For votes to create a total.

The thing I've noticed (and I'm biased here I admit) was that one current article had nearly 30 For votes, with around 15 Against votes. Currently this would make for a +15 total. Another article has 18 For votes and only two Against, making for a total of +16.

My point is, that under the existing system, some articles can be featured with considerably less For votes as long as they do not attract any Against votes. With a majority rule the voices of the "winning" opinion should be heard, whilst the "losing" minority should be placed on boats and shipped out to Mexico. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Well, the problem with that is we'd either have to come up with a definite way to calculate things that way, or it'd become a lot more subjective for me to choose. Also a lot of the articles with more polarized voting are not necessarily "better" or "worse," but just "different" - for example, a lot of people thought that Insert title here was clever enough to be featured, but others didn't think the originality was enough. I don't think an article should be rewarded for having a lot of For votes if it also has a lot of Againsts, considering that all the votes are (presumably) valid opinions. Remember, if we sacrifice our democracy, the terrorists will have won. —rc (t) 15:28, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Reskin

It's about time we had another re-skin, right? Well, here's one that has a specific timestamp - 10th of December: ED Reskin. Wadda you think? Could you give me a little help with the image in the corner please, I would like to get rid of the background image and also the potato- making it a modified ED logo. Comments very much appreciated. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC Icons-flag-gb.png MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. Double Sigh. 13:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Wait, do you actually want this to be featured on 12.10? Personally I think an ED reskin is a bad idea - best to forget them altogether, in my opinion...you might want to link it on IRC or something for other opinions.
As far as the logo goes, we can upload the new logo to image:Wiki.png on the day the reskin goes live. Or do you mean you need help with making the image itself? —rc (t) 19:52, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
The idea was mulled around on IRC for a while, Mhaille, Olipro, Guest/Sikon being a few of the people coming up with the concept. I will muse the subject again there. With regards to the image, something like a defaced "ae" would be good, and we need to remove the background image from the featured article - probably meaning removing the {{:Link}} and pasting in the text, and then removing the javascript. Unless my knowledge of the background images is completely wrong. Basically sorting the image out is way beyond my capabilites. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC Icons-flag-gb.png MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. FI

So, it's been a long time since I've earned my keep around this here wiki and thus I decided to update PFP in all its glory. However, when adjusting the weights on the FI template, I came across this little event... Though I've re-adjusted it, believing it to be a mistake, I wouldn't object to it not being a mistake, if you get what I mean. *taps nose* --~ sin($) tan() 20:31, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Er, oops. Nobody can prove that was intentional... —rc (t) 20:44, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Love the Texas 'toon

And it's so true, too...--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 03:35, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Heh, thanks. I thought you might notice it, but I wasn't sure whether you'd be amused or offended... —rc (t) 05:06, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
While it's POSSIBLE to offend me, it IS quite hard. For tips, talk to Mhaille.  ;)--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 13:29, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Calvin and Hobbes

Thank you for nominating my rewrite of Calvin and Hobbes for VFH, the first step (well, second I guess, after me rewriting it) in its path to featured status. I promise not to let having a featured article go to my head. [place sarcastic/ironic joke here in which I do something to indicate that it's gone to my head]. --Nakedman 03:40, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Uh, I forgot to respond to this. But no problem. —rc (t) 02:28, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Your 'toons is good

Hey, just wanted to say I'm enjoying your work and even paid a visit to your Blob Blog (*snicker* Bob Loblaw's Law Blog, man I miss Arrested Development). But actually I also have a question — are you guys trying to save all of the former UnToons because the first one I did is a fairly bulky file and I was thinking I should delete it perhaps? I figured you'd be the guy to ask. - Imrealized 04:25, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Personally I think they should all be saved, though it does seem sort of inefficient if they'll only be seen one day a year...perhaps we could organize past cartoons in some way - link the main UnNews page to a gallery of cartoons arranged by topic or something, I dunno. I'd like them to get some screenplay even after their day in the sun, but I can't say I've thought about it too much up to this point. Of course, they could always be fit into regular articles or news stories, for one. —rc (t) 04:37, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm glad I asked ya before I pulled the trigger on it. As far as a link to a gallery goes, I wish I could help out on that, but I'm still at the sporking codes phase (I'll get better one day, maybe even soon). If someone else started it I could figure out what I was doing enough to pitch in, but the creation of all that is beyond my pseudo-rudimentary coding skills. I'll hold on to the pic for now and see if I can work it in somewhere along the line. Thanks for thee help and keep up the good blob blog job (that kinda doesn't sound right). - Imrealized 05:05, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, and I'm sure my coding is much, much worse. But if I have the time and inclination someday I'll see what I can do. —rc (t) 05:19, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Canada Day

Hopefully you get this message before July 2nd. Okay, So I made this reskin. And this logo, but since there are no admins on IRC right now, I can't get anyone to put make them one and the same. Oh yah, and feel free to put it up whenever you like (during July 1st). --The Zombiebaron 20:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Acctaully Tompkins and Mhaille got the logo. --The Zombiebaron 20:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Right then, it's looking like a go for July 1. 2007. —rc (t) 20:18, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure wheter to laugh or cry at that statement. --The Zombiebaron 20:33, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

VFH

Hello. I was just wondering how low the VFH score could get. Have you seen a lower VFH score than George W. Bush? It's score was -6 when you removed it, which was the lowest score I've seen. --Sbluen 05:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I usually remove them when they hit -3, so an article getting all the way to -6 before I or some other admin removes it is quite a feat. Offhand I can't remember any that have gotten so many negatives, much less in so short a time. —rc (t) 05:50, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Aw! You were supposed to leave it up all week and see just how low it could go! Spang talk 06:07, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm waiting for somebody to nom one of your articles before I do that. —rc (t) 06:24, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I plan to nominate 123Fat123 for UN:UGM for this and this nomination. He is probably the worst judge on this site. --Sbluen 20:15, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Even he seems to agree. —rc (t) 23:53, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Nominated. --Sbluen 03:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Moving discussion

RC, is it possible to move the VFP discussion on Splenda in the Grass to the image's discussion page or the VFP discussion page? I have a somewhat wordy retort to Zombie (including information on the Splenda being sold in Canada as he claims it isn't) and I feel that the discussion page of is a better place for this. vandalism in progress

Check out the recent changes. IP 84.0.117.195 hass vandalised 5 pages when I last checked. I'm a n00b and don't know what to do. --Markfiend 15:14, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I blocked him. Thanks for the timely notice! For future vandalizations you can do the same thing you did here (notify an admin if you see an active one in the recent changes) or report the IP to Ban Patrol. —rc (t) 15:20, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
But don't use the Forums. :) --The King In Yellow (Talk to the Dalek.) 15:22, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
'K my bad. :) I must admit I paniced (panicked?). --Markfiend 15:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
No problem, no damage done. —rc (t) 15:26, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
