Talk Page Archive #12
Kick it old-school with Hinoa's Talk Page Archives! This archive dates back to 10 April 2007, and continues all the way up until 31 May 2007. Vandalism strictly prohibited here (duh). If you want to vandalize something, get a can of spray paint and tag some bathroom stall. Violators will be shot on sight. I have a banstick and I know how to use it. This page is only here because I am a packrat and can't bear to part with my old stuff. Anything here isn't current. If you have to leave me a message, do so at User talk:Hinoa. Internet Jesus[edit source]

I spent an hour yesterday on the internet jesus article and tried to make it as funny as possible and not stupid. i am very happy that i searched and found it deleted, otherwise i would have made a lot of links to the page. pleaase tell me why you deleted the article and please reinstate it. love the site and thanks for huffing other rubbish articles (except mine) --Windrangers 08:28, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Okay, you win the award for "most civil complaint" (or would, if I had one). But getting to business, we already have an insane number of articles about Jesii on Uncyc. Just take a look at Jesus--that's four templates' worth of Saviorly goodness. Frankly, Jesii have been overdone here. I mean, "Jesus in your Cup?" That's kinda stretching it.
However, I will grant that Internet Jesus didn't suck, and thus, I've restored it. I recommend taking it to Pee Review for further input, though; the fact that there are already an insane number of Jesii will make the competition a bit difficult.
Oh, and points for searching before editing in redlinks everywhere. :) —Major Sir Hinoa prepare for troublemake it double? 15:11, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Gore "article"[edit source]

The article was just a poke at the standard wiki response. Was it really that bad? Or is this just IMHO? Just asking, that's all. In all honesty, I don't think it could've grown into anything, but hey, that's just me. Cap'n Nobeard 18:02, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

stupcarp now counts the amount of articles on VFD[edit source]

It's a bit broken, but your request has been fulfilled. To get the bot to tell you the amount of articles on VFD, simply give it the command carp vfdcount. Redirects[edit source]

Please do not create new redirect pages unless they serve some sort of a purpose. Redirecting, say, Nicole Kidman to Self Promotion is an example of what not to do. Thanks, —Major Sir Hinoa prepare for troublemake it double? 13:37, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not having a go at you at all... You are right about the redirects. I try not to deal with uncylopedia users because in general they don't have any sense of humor... ah the irony, most of the hardcore ones don't seem to read any of the aritcles at all, they just make minor spelling corrections and badger people... and worst of all, if you try to engage with them in a light hearted way about their 'advice' they take it as their cue to badger you even more and then ban/threaten to ban you (see above).... What is wrong with all these people?? Not enough love from their mothers?

What I would really appreciate would be if someone actually went into the pages I have written user:dantoller and added some funny stuff...

Almost right. Adminning Uncyc is, quite simply put, a thankless job--even though the other Uncyc regulars might respect us, virtually everyone else who edits does not (especially if their article got deleted). I think something like 90% of the articles created at Uncyc die within their first day--one-liners, vanity articles, that sort of thing--and quite a few more expire after a week. Having to put up with such an incredible amount of crap can take quite a toll on one's faith in humanity. Furthermore, vandals tend to take out their frustration on admins even if the admin in question wasn't involved. (I got attacked by such a vandal the day I got opped.) It's kind of like the lightning rod effect--the higher you are up in the hierarchy, the more likely you are to be hit. With all of that mess to deal with, some of us admins just disappear, and some of us start to get harsher and harsher with people that annoy us, and almost all of us tend less towards writing articles and towards maintaining the site. I try not to be a jackass all the time, I really do. In my mind, the warning I left on your talk page was a polite notice. 'Course, the thing about the internet is that you can't type in a certain tone of voice. Mind you, I'm just speaking for sysops here. I dunno about non-sysops; maybe they just have a stick up their collective ass. ;)—Major Sir Hinoa prepare for troublemake it double? 14:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Sounds like a joyless existence... but the less humor you have reacting to fools like me, they more they with screw with you... so really you choose your own punishment!..... Like I said I would appeciate it if you made any improvements to my pages... maybe you will even enjoy reading them? Take it easy...--Dantoller 16:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

V for Rolemodels.jpg

In your block message I noted that you directed me to a certain apology I had accepted a year earlier from a certain Bradaphraser. I hope you know that any such truce between us has long been voided. I patiently waited a year, scanning for any semblance that Uncyclopedia had changed, but it has not. You aristocratic shit-eaters that call yourselves administrators still continue to Huff articles, as though you know what humour is. You do not leave the user to decide what they find funny or not funny, instead carefully filtering out whatever humour does not suit your elitist palette. This is what I protest against! This is my struggle!

Actually, that's a feature of the MediaWiki software. People used to actually do that, and it got annoying, so they implemented something that would defeat that. This is why admins don't like when people try to do that--it doesn't work, and it just means more cleanup. You deleted a whole article I wrote. Does this mean everything is gone? How would I have had the tag removed when I completed the article? How on earth can you do anything with uncyclopedia? Do you have a copy of what was there?

NRV and stuff[edit source]

well... I have a javascript thing that NRV's it, and I know it does the ICU anyway, so I'm too lazy to bother changing the javascript :P

Also... I realise that contruction template is there, but sometimes there's some pieces of utter bollocks that you can just tell aren't going to go anywhere anyway... so I tend to apply that sort of discretion to that one, and anyway, I'm not a nice guy... any more :P --Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. DiZ[edit source]

Today he posted another forum topic about Ourobous(I don't care about spelling) and flamed Benson I saw that he was banned for doing somthing like that before(by you) so I moved the topic to his own userspace instead he moved it back I didn't want to move it back again since I didn't want to start an edit so I thought getting an admin to take of this whould be better.--Scott 22:27, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

No... not at all... DiZ created that as a parody to another article in BHOP, everyone's got the wrong end of the stick and DiZ wasn't trying to troll... much as I realise he can be an utter dickweed at times, a week ban is just silly over something like this... for christ sakes, it's only Benson... the whole thing has been taken out of context. Me and Braydie had a good chat with DiZ and to be fair... it's not fair, so I've unbanned him... maybe a bit more tact would be appropriate on his part in the future, but discretion is the better part of valour and a 1 week ban is somewhat of a heavyhanded measure so I've unbanned him. --Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. Attack Force[edit source]

Hey man, why did you remove the attack force page? I stated it was irony, it was obvious and for all to see.

Joe Mauer ICU[edit source]

Hello. I noticed you asked for a re-write on the 'Joe Mauer' page. I'm just wondering what you would want added. Though I do in fact have the technology, I lack expertise in adding the fancy stuff. I just wrote that last night, and do plan to build on it or redo it, but you asked me to do so within 7 days! I'll try my best, but hell, I'm no miracle worker. - TacitAlibi

After looking at the page, I've come up with one piece of advice: being crude isn't always funny. The line about where the sideburn transplants came from in particular struck me as really unnecessary. I like the idea of the sideburn transplants, though. I'd also expand the section on him being the "defending average champion," possibly going into exactly how average he is (if you've seen Idiocracy, you'll have a better idea of what I mean by that).
I'd also like to point out that for further feedback, you can always take your article to Pee Review and have it looked at by people far more funny than I. Furthermore, the ICU tag doesn't give you seven days from tagging, but rather, seven days from the last edit. As long as you keep working on it, it won't be reviewed. I'd like to point out that ICU is not a death sentence, as well. For exactly how that all works, take a look at UN:ICU. —Major Sir Hinoa prepare for troublemake it double? 14:40, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's not vanity, for starters. It's on WP, and virtually no vanity articles are. It is, however, crap, and I've tagged it as {{rewrite}}. As for the other bit--when I deleted it, the article read, in it's entirety, "Lan.st is a crappy PSP hacking site. Under construction." Pages about websites that I've never heard of and that are 9 words long get the hammer. Thank you for your concern. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 00:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

rollback rights[edit source]

i'd like rollback rights, or whatever you wish to call it, so i can revert articles to pre vandal states. i know that most admins say just tell me what article, but i think that i would be able to do it faster. second, i'd leave the admins for the more important stuff than fixing stupidity added in articles, unblanking and such, and i'm sure you'd rather huff a couple of articles. ONX 16:56, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Anyone can fix vandalism. When you're on the diff. page between two revisions, you'll see the latter one has an (undo) option. If you click that, it will (after confirmation) allow you to revert that edit. It's actually better than Rollback in some respects, as rollback only works on the last edit made, whereas Undo can be applied to historical edits. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 17:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes you can. When you pull up the history tab, just click the date next to the revision you want to revert to. Then just click edit and save. Easy. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 00:59, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
