All that work to change "World Domination" to "World domination"? You've gotta be kidding me! I'm pretty sure it is standard to use capital letters for all major words in a title, so it really should be capitalized. But whatever. --Ahmed the Jewess 23:14, 5 May 2005 (EDT)

re: Template:Randomstub

I'm not sure why <tr> tags aren't working inside the <option> tags (it's possible that the parser renders HTML before rendering extension content, but I'll have to test this hypothesis further), but you can still use the pipe syntax without any problems. --Algorithm 03:42, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Just tested tables on my own wiki, and they're working fine without any changes to my code. Were the <tr> and <td> tags on their own inside the <option>s, or did you also have the <table> in there? If you didn't, then the failure of the <tr> and <td> tags is expected behavior. --Algorithm 04:17, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)
The <option>s were inside the table, as the initial text "This is a (whatever)-related..." stub was constant and the rest of the text pseudorandom. I just tried switching this so that the <table>s are entirely contained within the <option>s, instead of the other way around. The table codes worked in that configuration, but the {} parameter was no longer being properly replaced as soon as it was within the <option> section. I've had to revert the template. Drats. --Carlb 05:41, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, that's also to be expected. The content of the selected option is rendered independently by the parser, and wouldn't have access to circumstantial variables. --Algorithm 08:43, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)

ED

Cheers for adding the article (and fixing the redirect in the template, I didn't even realise that it was only a redirect, my bad) but I though that there might be ONE user who was on both that could write something, I'm slightly surprised there hasn't been any cross polination as yet!. Also I've removed Gv:, Ow: and Ch: from the Template:Languages as they are works in progess to be relesed on set anniversaries. Cheers --Elvis 21:27, 30 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I'd only added Gv:, Ow: and Ch: as Uncyclopedia:List of Uncyclopedias already lists them as active languages (so I presumed they were live). Oops! --Carlb 21:32, 30 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Thats my fault, I added them there so that people would find them as a pleasant surprise (I should probably remove them) but front paging them makes it a bit to easy, again my fault. --Elvis 21:39, 30 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Undictionary:Algore-ithm - why did you revert my edits?

Congratulations on winning Uncyclopedia:Writer of the Month, but I was wondering why you reverted my edits on the Undictionary:Algore-ithm page (diff here). If you need me to change the format to conform to the undictionary page, I can do that it's not that hard. BTW, despite what I said at the village dump, I don't mind too that you deleted the Hyad and JWSchmidt templates. But come on without Template:End of the Internet) (and it's redirect Template:Template), how are we supposed to know where the end of the internet is? Atleast you keeped Template:wtf - for random humor - besides, the World Trade Federation needs a template. -Hyad 08:00, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)

The only problem with the changes to Undictionary:Algore-ithm are, as you mention, format. An individual entry in a dictionary isn't divided into chapters and sections. A definition should be formatted as one or two paragraphs with no internal section headers, extra categories or templates (the name of the word being defined is the section header, and this much is already inserted automatically). Yes, this should be minor to fix.
As for the templates, many have been combined into a smaller number of templates (for instance, stub has been recoded to randomly display "you have reached the end of the Internet" one time in a hundred, and many other "this is a stub" or "this is a disambiguation page" entries have been combined using a random option/choose algorithm. See also Masters of the Internet as I suspect the end of the Internet is there.
Templates used once (on one page) have mostly been moved onto that page, unless they're generic enough to be likely candidates for re-use (for instance, the sci-fi article stub template yoda) or they're part of the main page and its variants.
There have been various discussions on vfd about combining various templates, and a list of templates in use has been created at Uncyclopedia:Templates (no, I don't know wtf to make of wtf or, for that matter, uk). You might want to add your two cents worth there? --Carlb 09:47, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yup. -Hyad 01:20, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Stubs... again

Why have you removed "sub-sub-sub-sub-stub" out of Template:Randomstub? I kind of liked it. :( - Guest 13:53, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

A "This {}-related article is a sub-sub-sub-sub-stub, making it such a stub that it disrupts the space-time continuum and needs to be wrenched from the dark side. Feel free to help with the wrenching." is back... the template is editable by anyone should you care to add more. :) --Carlb 00:49, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

New language levels

I see you fixing the categories for the new levels ("a good thing"). One of the punishments for a user (Zak, Clorox) making such though is that they have to add it to all 20+ existing language category pages. So, don't be too helpful ^_^. Cheers! --Splaka 03:28, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Template:langlevels

The problem with Template:langlevels (I had debated making one myself) is that the category page is the only page that can be customized per individual language. On en.wp each language gets 5 templates to play with, here they only get one template (one or two words) and one category. If the category pages are made static, there is no variation. Also, the previous method *highly* discourgaged addition of new levels ("Its a good thing"), as adding new levels gets confusing. If people want custom levels, they can copy/paste the code manually... IMHO ^_^. Thoughts? --Splaka 23:25, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

template:langlevels is useful for languages which re-use the same descriptions (English, Asshat, Simple English, and the like) and completely useless for categories which are actual non-English languages (Français, Deutsch, Español, français-canadien/joual). Only a default for where we don't have an existing customisation or translation of the text. I don't intend to use it everywhere. Pas de tout. --Carlb 23:30, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Ok, mon mauvais for making assumptions! That is a good thing then. It woulda been gooder if Dawg and myself had asked for a poll on the levels that should be added before a zillion languages were, but, 20/20 hindsight eh. Hmm, I am gonna add a section about making custom templates, I think. Cheers. --Splaka 23:34, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Looks like it means having to add any new levels sixteen times instead of twenty-six to get to all of the category pages. Deutsch, Español, Français and their variants all require full translation of level names, many others contain customisations. Still no small task. --Carlb 00:10, 12 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Speaking of, that list would have to be updated everytime a new language is created (making new languages a 4 step process). I'm going to fix the wording a bit to just be two links to lists. Anyone smart enough to add a new level should be able to figure it out... maybe. --Splaka 02:33, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)

fudged fixed up undic a bit

I modified Template:Dictionary to add a new page: Undictionary:* which contains all the non-start-with-standard-letters words (numbers, symbols, foreign words, etc) and moved such from Undictionary:A, and changed occurances of such (that I could find, only two though) pointing to A, to point to *. I chose asterisk as a wildcard (? is a bit ambiguous and people might thing their font isn't showing a unicode character, and # is ambiguous as a url anchor). So one can use * on a page for $$$ if it ever gets created. I think... ? --Splaka 02:30, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I've been deleting all the unused Undictionary: namespace entries (or in some cases, making them unused). Oh, and is the new favicon.ico ok? I used RC's tater and your design to color it up a bit, no one has bitched at me about it yet. *shrug*. You should come to IRC sometime or something. Have a gab. Etc. --Splaka 11:04, 21 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Style

Hope you don't mind, I've been going along behind you and replacing border=1 with (to make it easier to change the style of all the cards at once, if needed). It can contain cellpadding, cellspacing, border, as well as the style= tag of course. Cheers --Splaka 23:56, 26 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Oops, didn't notice you'd built a list. I think sub-templates of templates can go on the template talk pages (maybe in tl form though). eg: Template_talk:Card and Template_talk:Die (also, I meta and wiki-fied die) --Splaka 05:20, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Bugging you again. Ahhhhh I hate that [new messages] thing (You should come to irc, hint hint). Would it be worth splitting the die into Template:Die/1 - Template:Die/6 to make it same as cards (and then fixing up the craps game to use them)? Since you seem to like answering with action rather than words, you can do it or not, no need to reply ^_^.

Incidentally, did you use some sort of automated method to move all those bits and pieces into the timeline? If so, could you tell me how you did it? --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 22:09, 9 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I'd used pywikibot just to bulk-create the redirects. To include the bits and pieces into the timeline, all you need is to cut&paste something like this into the timeline article:

1900
1901
1902
...

A program to spit that out (if you'd even need one) would be trivial. Once that's done, then the individual pages may be redirected. --Carlb 04:18, 12 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Re: Template categorization

I've been considering your bot suggestion, and I think now it's the right way to go. At your convenience, could you have Hymie go through and flag any template that does not contain <noinclude> with the following?

<noinclude></noinclude>

The extra PAGENAME is to ensure they're not all clustered under T.

Thanks. --Algorithm (talk) 09:09, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Looks like many of the ones with <noinclude> are listed in Uncyclopedia:Templates, the list of awards, the Babel project or other template lists. Nonetheless, flagging anything without the noinclude tag does put them into "uncategorised templates", not into a more appropriate category based on the existing lists. I've left them in uncategorised templates for now; if this wasn't what you had intended, please let me know. --Carlb 08:38, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Deletion: Orkut

Hi!

I saw you deleted my Orkut article; in the deletion log you say it only forwarded to pt:orkut, but that's not how I remember it. I had written a pretty long article, translated it into horrible portuguese with the help of Babelfish; at the bottom was a link to automatically translate it back into even more horrible English. I thought it was a pretty funny article and I'd put quite a bit of work into it. Can you look at the history of deleted articles somehow?

PS: Oh, I found it: http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Babel:Pt/Orkut

This categorization destroys the joke ;) The point is to have an article in Portuguese in the ENGLISH section of uncyclopedia. I will let the so-called experts explain: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orkut#The_Brazilian_Invasion

Also, the categorization breaks the Babelfish link, which could be fixed of course, but I'd find it a lot funnier if the article stayed as just /wiki/Orkut. Is that possible?

--Bringa 03:22, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Nothing has been deleted except the redirect created when the page was moved. An undelete revealed nothing else of interest. If you want to include the Portuguese text into Orkut, using the tag in the English page should insert the entire text, much like a template. You may also want to use Wikipedia or Wikipediapar to insert a link to the so-called experts if you want one there. --Carlb 06:02, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Categorisation

I would like to point out that you Catagorized Zombieminion as an Uncatagorized Template, where as it was already Catagorized as an award...--The Zombiebaron 16:57, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

The category which was missing was <noinclude></noinclude> from the template categorisation project. I've added it and removed the "uncategorised" tag which indicated its absence. --Carlb 05:53, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Ok, thanks --The Zombiebaron 15:19, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

UnNews

I see you changed up UnNews to work more like WikiNews. One problem, though: you are setting the year/month category in Template:UnNews dynamically and that means that every time any edit is performed on a page - even a vandalism revert - the page gets moved to the top of the list. Right now, for instance, the top story under January is one written last September. I would suggest either going back to the old system or having people add a date stamp the same way that WikiNews does. If your choice is the second, I would be happy to impliment it. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 22:28, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I've looked into this and have created 10/2023 as a variant of the UnNews template, but with the mm/yyyy date as a parameter. I've also looked into including subst: in templates to cause the to come up automagically - this latter may be more difficult (but not impossible) as any attempt to edit the template online replaces subst: with the contents of the variable. Tested at http://en.uncyclopedia.co/w/index.php?title=Template:New_page&oldid=489910 :) --Carlb 03:06, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Roboto Edit

Is there any reason to the bunch of deletion of the Mr. Roboto categories? I mean, I'd understand if you'd only deleted one or two, but a whole bunch of 'em was wiped off the face of the internet by yours you-ly. I'm not mad at you or anything, I'm just trying to understand; I'm new, see, with the learning and the comprehension not yet but will. --KChasm 05:32, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

In some cases, there were articles in a category but the category itself did not exist (these appear as red links. With most of these, I tried to clean up by sticking with categories which already exist where possible, on the assumption that the links to non-existent categories were created by mistake (and there were many, not sure if Category:Mr. Roboto was one). Not a statement as to whether a category should/should not exist in this case. --Carlb 13:19, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Template:UnNews

Forgive my ignorance here, but I'm trying to figure out the UnNews template. By using , won't the stories keep getting carried forward to the current month as the month changes? Should we be integrating the manual system from Template:News to Template:UnNews. And whatever is going on, Nonymous should be advised on his talk page before he undoes anything else. T. Categories in templates don't get updated in the category itself unless someone actually edits the article, due to a MediaWiki limitation. Unfortunately, using this as a cute trick to get a timestamp on an article means that it's categorised to the month/year of last edit, not the month/year of creation.
The "start a new article" inputbox on the UnNews main page gets around this by using News instead of UnNews, but not manually at all - the
codes are contained in the template for the blank new article and therefore substitute the date of article creation in-line as soon as the new article is saved.
Note that putting subst: within the new article template is a trick which is reserved to admins, as the "Import from XML" specialpage must be used to upload the template body. Editting that template normally would destroy it by actually making the date substitutions.
Perhaps it would make sense to have a 'bot go through the list of September, October, November... UnNews and stamp them all with whatever month/year so that they don't get recategorised if editted. The current system is a kludge, it relies on many MediaWiki ideosynchronacies to work at all and leaves much to be desired. The default is to stamp new entries with News and Date, not UnNews, but that still does leave the question of what to do with the old UnNews. --Carlb 18:07, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

I've attempted to clean up this mess and have dropped a note on User talk:Nonymous. Hopefully no further edits to the templates themselves will be needed. --Carlb 18:45, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for straightening this out, Carl.  :) T. (talk) 18:58, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Double redirects

Arg. So I was about halfway through fixing the double redirect when suddenly all of the ones I had fixed showed up again. I see you moved the page back, so now there are a bunch of broken redirects from that. Please respond to this quickly so I know what to do. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:33, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Looks like someone has been moving the date pages. I am unimpressed... as all of the individual years redirect here, this creates thousands of double redirects. I've been trying to undo the moves as damage control, basically returning the whole mess however it was before User:AMK152's page moves created this mess. --Carlb 23:36, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Ok. Well. If we are undoing those redirects (last night when I talked with splarka he was thinking of keeping of them) then we need to revert my last 250 or so edits. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:38, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

To keep them, we would have to edit every individual year page, as they all redirect to these. 2000 of 'em! Not impossible, but it might be a good idea to think this through or even raise the issue in Uncyclopedia:Village Dump before doing something like this. --Carlb 23:40, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
2000 is quite feasible. I can do it in 2 hours. And was. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:43, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, since 1000-1699 is half done, I am going to finish it. I will be on IRC if you want to discuss the rest. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:47, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
If you're willing to clean up the double redirects this causes, fine. Whomever originally created this mess chose not to do so. --Carlb 23:48, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Nevermind. looks like you reverted my edits en masse. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 23:48, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Oh, wait, I see what you did. Yeah. I will finish up 1000-1699

Wanted!

Special:Wantedpages isn't very helpful anymore, what with all the pointless links. Keitei said I should mention this to you, and so I am. Hi.—Mandaliet 10:43, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Traduko

Were you planning on doing something with Traduko? ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 02:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Why bother? Truth is stranger than fiction - and the ironically error-filled translation of an ad for a translation service is real. I didn't have to make up a word of it. --Carlb 02:44, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, it seems a bit unlike an encyclopedia article. And it clutters Special:Deadends. I guess I will just add a white link or something. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 02:48, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
I added a PS. All your base are belong to us (old cliché, I know, but that should knock it off the dead end list). --Carlb 02:53, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
It's actually a good addition there (for once :) ). Thanks. ---Quill.gifRev. Isra (talk) 02:54, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

User:Lugiatm

That was his edit, as a matter of fact... Told us on the cabal an' all. ;) Good of you to notice, though. :D --~ sin($) tan() 15:01, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Oops... I had looked at the edit (IP which pretty much blanked the page except for one line), looked at the history (page had previously been vandalised and reverted) and suspected that the edit was more likely to be page blanking than useful. Most edits that replace an entire page with one line are suspect. --Carlb 15:55, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I understood your confusion. That's why I didn't ban your ass. ;) Have a good one! --~ sin($) tan() 09:09, 6 April 2006 (PDT)

Interwiki

Hi. I have start adding interwikis beetween Uncyclopedia and Nonsensopedia. Could you tell me I'm not doing any wrong? It's not harm? Big sorry for my engilsh. Szoferka 15:01, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, they appear to be correct. Glad to see that the interwiki links are now working in both directions. --Carlb 15:18, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of which, do you think this could be implemented in uncyclopedia? It's all in advanced chinese for me, but I thought you may be able to make sense from it.--Rataube 16:08, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Here you go: User:Hymie the SpelChek™ bot/uncyclopedia_family.py. You do need a working pywikipediabot in order to use this... --Carlb 12:01, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

"SRV"

I don't know if you've read the history of the discussion behind the SRV template in the context of the deletion changes, but it's sort of interesting. See http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Forum:VFD and http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Forum:VFD2 .

Tension betwen deletionists and (dunno what to call me (us, maybe, since you seem to agree with it) is a part of any wiki, and tempers can often get out of control. I try to keep the discussion rational and focused on making uncyclopedia better. Thanks for letting me know about your post, and perhaps even if the policy isn't changed we can try to encourage more people to at least identify a reason when they NRV someone's idea. "Seven day stay of execution/electrocution/death by a thousand cuts then dipping into the lemon juice/etc" doesn't exactly send a message that NRVers are interested in helping the person who had the idea in making their article better, and may be driving new users away from the site, which I don't think is in uncyclopedia's best interest. If we want new ideas, instead of a million kitten huffing/oscar wilde/chuck norris pages, we need new users, and if new users get turned off by the NRV policy, and the way it's used by people who place NRVs, then we won't be able to accomplish that. Like I said in the forum, NRV should encourage creativity as well as serve as a way to delete items that won't go anywhere useful for the site.

--RudolfRadna 17:29, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

1 Like you've noticed, isra is very against modifying the current use of NRV so I think we'd be better off focusing on trying to encourage people who use NRV to use it differently rather than to change site policy. I do think he's missing the point of this driving away new users, which uncyc needs, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't worry too much about it. The last thing I want to do is get personally emotionally involved in some debate over a template on uncyc. Honestly, it's just not worth that extreme to me. I do think that if we drive people away with the deletion policy being offensive that will in the long term be a bad thing for the site, rather than a good thing.

By the way, the reason I'm putting this here instead of in the forum is because I don't think it will do any good there, honestly, and the last thing I want to do is get into another pointless conflict with admins about site policy that accomplishes nothing except eating up server space.

--RudolfRadna 14:10, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

I've thought it over and I think the debate comes down to this: Isra and others who don't want to change NRV want to keep the current system because it's simpler and easier to use, it's what they're used to and from their perspective it works at deleting "crap." However, in my opinion, they don't see the cost of the material you're losing because of n00bs who are intimidated by the policy who are driven away from the site. They don't think this is an issue. Personally, I think if we want new ideas and new creativity, it's worth making some sort of a change just to improve the atmosphere so it's less intimidating for new users, but since I already went over this a few weeks ago and the idea went down in flames, I don't want to revisit it because like I said, I think it would be pointless and just lead to destructive personality conflicts. I'm just explaining my position here since you took an interest in this subject, and because I was also interested in your opinion on the impact of the current NRV policy on the "environment" for n00bs here, in terms of intimidation/etc.

Another odd thing I noticed is that by default, the way NRV works means it's easier for a n00b to make a contribution by adding material to an existing page, or changing material on that page, than it is to create a wholly new article. Maybe one approach would be to encourage new users to work on modifying an existing page rather than creating a wholly new one, to get familiar with uncyc. At least with an established page, they could work on it without having to deal with being attacked by the NRV monster. There could be a page of advice for n00bs, explaining all of this, and recommending starting by editing a page instead of jumping into the deletion war and creating something new that will nearly inevitably be NRV'd by someone, given their lack of experience/not understanding yet what uncyc is about . . .

--RudolfRadna 14:32, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Have you looked at wikipedia:template:prod? It's (sort of) the equivalent to NRV here, a "proposal for deletion" tag placed on an article - if it's placed and remains undisputed, the article may be deleted. That's where the similarity ends, though - remove the tag and it does not get put on again. Still want to delete it? Take it to regular VFD (AfD, articles for deletion) for a vote. That way, undisputed items aren't finding their way into the voting process (where, with hundreds of useless one-liners a week, they'd quickly become unmanageable) but the "don't bite the n00bs" principle is better-respected. Save the bans (or threats of bans) for those deliberately vandalising (blanking pages, deleting entire articles one section at a time, or unleashing spambots to bury us under hundred of useless external links).

Perhaps some of what's being deleted (one-line fragments posted as separate articles) could be merged into other articles on related topics, or dumped in the undictionary. Then again, using Undictionary as a dumping ground for fragments could well be what has turned it into the pile of rubbish it is now. --Carlb 14:49, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

This is obviously a complex issues with competing, perhaps contradictory, goals. It's a balancing act between encouraging creativity, and being able to get rid of "garbage" or "crap." I like what you wrote on the 2 forum, and am glad that an admin thinks, as I do, that maybe we need to be a little more n00b friendly. Of course, you understand that because of the history (http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Forum:VFD and http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Forum:VFD2) I am hesistant to discuss this issue in the forums again. My opinion doesn't have much weight, perhaps yours will.

I think using the wikipedia equivalent to NRV is an interesting idea, and should be explored. I'm mainly concerned that NRV can be, either purposefully or unpurposefully, misused, and that it should be able to serve its purpose of encouraging quality material on the site. I don't think the current system does that, and I'm open to any position that makes the tag itself more n00b sensitive, even if no procedures change. I'd be saying this in the forum if I thought it would do any good, but I honestly think it's better for me to sit this one out for now since I already said my piece and I don't want this to turn into a fight between me and Isra. I respect his right to disagree with me, but I don't think a battle is what we need to resolve this issue. I'd be willing to discuss this with him/her, but he/she doesn't seem willing to budge a nanometer, and doesn't even seem to consider the impact of the template on n00bs to even be a concern, so I don't see the point of a discussion with him/her right now. I honestly doubt it can contribute anything to uncyc, so that's why I'm refraining.

Thanks again for caring about this, it's not about n00bs so much as making uncyc better, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help, aside from going 10 rounds with Isra again . . .

--RudolfRadna 15:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

"Many of these concerns are addressed in UN:NRV to which the template links. For several attempts to make the template less harsh, see it's history. For the reason why these didn't stay around, see Algo. He has some very strong opinions on the wording. ---Ven. Isra +s cun vfh vfp (commune) 01:58, 19 April 2006 (UTC)"

Nothing surprising here. Because we all know the earth will split open and fires, plague, and republicans will consume us all if NRV is changed. Not that I really mind the template being what it is now. But I don't buy the "horrible things will happen if we change this" position. And I don't buy the idea that the concerns about n00bs being turned off to uncyc are being dealt with just because there's an improved page concerning the template now. That's a great step, but I don't see what's wrong with discouraging people from putting comments like "stay of execution" on people's pages. That isn't even part of the template. It's how people are using the template, and I think it's abusive, and I think it should stop.

Maybe we could have a trial of the new NRV language? If it doesn't work we can switch it back? What do you think? In any case, it's unclear that any of this will go anywhere, since I don't think Isra will allow it.
