The Zombies were a British band formed by a nerd named Rod Argent who wanted to be like the Beatles. They formed in 1962 and surprisingly disbanded after the release of their critically acclaimed 1968 album "Nerdy and Oracle." Rod Argent explained in a recent interview that he wanted people to think that the band sounded scary despite their nerdy image. Surprisingly, they didn't make Goth Rock or Shock Rock type of music though, they just made garage rock.
Formation[edit | edit source]
Rod Argent met all of the other nerdy band members at St. Albans school in England. The three other members were Colin Blunstone,and brothers Jim and Steve Rodford. All graduated with a Master's Degree in music later on before their huge record deal with Cocka in 1964.
She's Not Nerd[edit | edit source]
Their first single She's Not Nerd was released in July 1964 on Cocka records. It was a instant classic known for warning nerds to start working out more or girls won't date them,even if they are the"cute" type of nerd. They then released their debut album She's Not Nerd on Parrot records in October 1964 along with another single Tell Her No that was also a huge hit.
Nerdy and Oracle[edit | edit source]
Their second and final album, surprisingly since it was critically acclaimed was 1968's Nerdy and Oracle on British PBS Records. It included a big hit Dork of the Season known for its somewhat dark sense of humor. The artwork was known for being psychedelic and a Shakespeare style acid trip. Butcher's Tale was also a huge hit about a butcher who raped and murdered his former girlfriend with a knife for cheating on him because he was also a nerd. It was also ranked number 100 on Rolling Stones's Magazine's 500 greatest albums of all time(surprisingly created by Kanye West).

Rod Argent selfishly broke up the band literally just to form his own band called Argent (what a uncreative name.)

Rod Argent's band were a One-hit wonder in America and Three-hit wonder in England. The band later broke up. EPIC FAIL! Rod stopped wearing glasses,though, now trying to look more tough.
