OK, I'll dive in... --UU - natter UU Manhole.gif 20:21, Nov 4

Humour: 7.5 This could be tricky. See, I like this article. I remember voting for it on VFH, and generally being fairly impressed with it.

But then, I like Viz magazine, and could quite happily enjoy page after page of Finbarr Saunders and his double entendres, so this was always going to appeal to me. So let's look elsewhere to understand why this wasn't universally popular. Looking through the VFH nom page, it seems the main criticism of this (aside from those who just don't like such stuff - humour is a matter of opinion after all) was that it was a bit obvious, and a bit in-your-face.

I can see where they're coming from, to an extent. It does get a bit much - perhaps the way to go is to throttle back on the innuendo and sex references, cherry pick the best to leave in (to coin a phrase), and spend more time on your other target - Pan's People/Legs & Co and their appalling "interpretations" of various songs.

I'll never forget what they did to The Clash's "Bank Robber", but I can't find that on YouTube... Yet. Still, there are a few of their "classics", so maybe use the Youtube extension to embed one of the videos for reference, and then let fly.

As was noted, the names and the song titles are the most obvious parts of the article, so maybe prune a few of those, and instead focus on the literal interpretations of popular songs - I'm sure you can mine more laughs there without the innuendo - plenty of songs offer themselves up for atrocious ideas, and you can go into some fun detail matching moves to lyrics. How tasteless could you be with "Another One Bites The Dust", for starters?

Other bits to possibly prune include the bit about "Brazilian Minge" and Alf - kinda unnecessary; the "Minge at the Weekend" section - same; and tone down the court bit - the "Wank, Wank Wank song" by Ballbag is crashing.

So yeah, some trimming, a bit of a shift in focus (you still have a great target to aim at) and you could well change a few minds about this article.

Concept: 7.5 As I say, I like this, but it is a little close to Viz - funny for those of us who don't mind the over-the-top gratuitous nature of it, but a bit much for others. But you have a superb secondary target being a little under-used (to coin another phrase), so spend more time on it and you should be fine.
Prose and formatting: 8 No real problems here - the odd comma out of place, a missing space or so (BBCtv?), but only the kind of thing sad gits like me spot.

Oh, and at least one too many quotes at the start. Quick rule of thumb - one's fine, two's pushing it, three's almost always too much. I'd stick with the NME one, myself.

Images: 6.5 Love that caption on the third one, although having the bloke in it when blokes are hardly mentioned in the context of the article feels a little odd. Same problem with the first one - it's obviously blokes, so it clashes a little with the idea of the Minges. You have about the right numer of pics, but I reckon at least one needs changing. Two are captioned OK, and the third I like. And you should think about adding a Legs & Co or Pan's People Youtube clip. So that's... 6.5, I'd say.
Miscellaneous: 7.4 Averaged.
Final Score: 36.9 What you have here, my friend, appears to be a bit of a Marmite article in the love-it-or-hate-it sense. At the risk of repeating myself a little too much, a shift in focus should do the trick here - leave in your favourite innuendo moments, but spend more time on the appalling "interpretations", and have a lot of fun with it!

Finally, as much as I've tried to account for others', this is only my opinion, and others are available. And good luck!
