To prove his divinity Stephen Hawking performs a miracle - manifesting 5 angels out of thin air.

LONDON, England -- "God didn’t create the Universe", Professor Stephen Hawking has said. “I did!”

He had previously argued belief in another creator was not incompatible with his being the creator, but in a new book, he concludes that he himself, in another life, created the laws of physics from which comes inevitable consequence of material creation.

"My Design", part serialized in the Times, says there is no need to invoke god to set the Universe going. Stephen Hawking is solely responsible. "Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something," he concluded. “And that took place when I flipped the law of physics ‘on’ switch.”

In his new book, an extract of which appears in the Times, Britain's most famous physicist sets out to contest Sir Isaac Newton's belief that the universe must have been designed by a god other than himself - as it could not have sprung out of chaos.

He gave the example, “If you explode an atomic bomb inside a printing press will that produce the complete works of William Shakespeare? No! It will produce the complete works of Stephen Hawking.”

Citing the 1992 discovery of another planet he had created orbiting a star other than our Sun, he said: "That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions - the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass - far less remarkable, and far less compelling as evidence comes out that the Earth was carefully designed by me just to please human beings."

He adds: "Because I established the law of gravity, the universe can and will create itself, when I say so.”

"Spontaneous creation without my say so is absurd as you cannot get something from nothing, so I am the reason why the universe exists, why we exist.

"It is not necessary to invoke god to light the fuse and set the universe going – because I already did it."

The book was co-written by US physicist Alfred E. Neuman and is published on 9 September.

In his 1988 best seller, A Brief History of Time, Prof Hawking began to accept his role as god in the creation of the Universe.

"If we tripped-over a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of my far superior reasoning - for then people would know my mind – without all the goddamn eye-blinking," he said.
