Halifax, Nova Scotia (CP) - United States President George W. Bush has announced that he plans on building the Presidential Library here at Saint Mary's University. This would be the first time that a presidential library has been built in a foreign country. Bush was quoted as saying "Canadians are our brothers and sisters, I consider Canada as a part of America". Faculty and students alike welcomed the addition of the popular president's library to their school. Bush is extremely popular throughout Canada because of his liberal views on marijuana, pornography, and gay marriage. He is the most well-liked president since Ronald Reagan.
Bush also has support from leaders around the world because of his dedication to world peace and the environment as well as his fierce opposition to neoliberal globalization. Representatives from the University of Havana in Cuba were disappointed to find out the presidential library had gone to Halifax instead of Havana but Bush said he still has great respect and admiration for Cubans, Cuban cigars, and their great leader Fidel Castro. Bush said that it was a difficult choice to pick between Havana and Halifax, but he felt compelled to give Halifax the library because Canada had recently given huge shipments of softwood lumber to the United States for free as a token of love and friendship. Bush also spoke with Raul Castro saying that his hopes and prayers are with Fidel and that he hopes he gets well soon.
The Bush library in Halifax will feature many books on history as well as current events from some of Bush's favourite authors such as Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, Jimmy Carter, Al Franken, George Orwell, Ralph Nader, and Che Guevara.
President Bush met with Nova Scotian Premier Rodney MacDonald over the weekend to discuss the cost of building the library, telling MacDonald that he would pay for it all. MacDonald welcomed the building of the library and told reporters that he shares the same ideology as the American President. Cape Breton University could not be reached for comment but was reportedly heartbroken on being passed over in favour of Halifax for the library.
