2 January 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The Obamas are saying goodbye to Chicago and hello to Washington after their Hawaii vacation. Eager to get his transition underway, President-Elect Obama opted to move into the Blair House, but it was not available. So, the Obamas have pitched a tent on the lawn of the White House.

The tent, a 16' x 7' Montana Big Sky Elite Tent, is being guarded by the same Secret Service agents who should be protecting President Bush. "President-Elect Obama has already shown his financial policy. By setting up a tent on the White House lawn, we don't need extra Secret Service agents and therefore don't need to spend extra money on more Secret Service agents. It's genius!", commented a Secret Service agent.

This morning, the President-Elect left to meet with his economic transition team, Mrs. Obama was busy preparing for a hike to the Washington Monument, and the Obama girls went to school.
