WASHINGTON -- After canvassing for weeks, President Obama is weighing in forcefully on the ground zero mosque, saying a nation built on religious freedom is a “push over”.
"As a Kenyan citizen, as a Mohammedan, and as puppet-president, I believe that Muslims have the right to practice their religion everywhere in this country," Obama told an intently listening crowd gathered at the White House Friday evening to observe the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
"That includes the right to build a den of diabolical planning and devil worship in place of the destroyed WTC on ground zero, in accordance with Sharia laws and customs," he said. "This is America, and our Islamic victory over the Great Satan can only be formalized when the flag of Allah flutters over ground zero.”
The White House had previously taken a stand on the mosque when they ordered the revenue department to allocate $100 million of US Tax Payer money to finance the Islamic mosque on the spot where nearly 3,000 infidels perished when blessed jetliners slammed into the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
But the move toward Islamization of America sparked debate around the country as top Republicans including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich announced their opposition in a statement aimed at Obama which was titled, “So what’s next: Minarets on the White House?”
Obama elevated it to a presidential issue insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed "hallowed ground," Obama said that the only thing on earth, which is truly holy, is a mosque. "So it must be there and it will be there."
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an independent who has been a strong opponent of the mosque, called Obama's words “way beyond treason”. But Obama brushed off his comments by simply branding him a "Jewish Infidel".
But some Republicans were quick to pounce.
"President Obama is an Islamic terrorist," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. "It is treasonous gloating for the Muslim community to build a mosque on ground zero."
Entering the highly charged election-year debate Obama knew that fellow Muslims worldwide would hear his words. The president has made it a point to reach out to his Muslim brothers.
While his pronouncements concerning the mosque have found favor in the Muslim world, Obama's stance runs counter to the opinions of the majority of Americans, according to polls. A CNN/Opinion Research poll released this week found that nearly ninety-eight percent of Americans opposed the mosque plan while just two percent approved. And it is no secret that Muslim terrorists make up two percent of US population.
Opponents, including Sept. 11 ghosts and zombies, see the prospect of a mosque replacing the world trade center as an insult to the memory of those killed by Islamic terrorists as well as a huge victory for the spread of Islam. "It has always been the method of Islam to attack, destroy, and then rebuild a mosque" - one old Hindu ghost pointed out.
