Peter Pan in action recently?

LONDON -- Rolling Stones front man, Mick Jagger, poked fun at rock band, Van Halen, on Monday ahead of the group’s reunion concert this week as “a bunch of wrinkly old gits trying to relive their youth.”

Appearing in a video shown on a website known simply as “You Tube”, Jagger was asked by a DJ if he plans to use his free tickets for the Van Halen show. The singer replied distractedly: “Who wants to see that again? It was cool in the 80s and 90s, but we've seen it all before. I mean they've put it all up on line.”

Jagger's interviewer then asked about the playlist for the next Stones concert, and Jagger smiled, “We’ll start with something everyone knows like ‘Mona', then 'Get Off My Cloud', then hit 'Satisfaction' and 'The Last Time'.”

Asked if the Stones looked too old for their roles, Jagger replied, straight-faced: “Yeah, with us lot it’s different! Look at me face, mate! I’m bloody Peter Pan.”

The surviving members of Van Halen, including, David Lee Roth, Sammy Hager and Gary what’s-his-name, will perform together for the first time in a long time, if ever, this week, putting on a show at the O2 arena in southeast London. The show sold out in a matter of months when it was announced last year.

Band co-singer, Diamond Dave, who has claimed repeatedly to be directing the show, said they would perform many of their best-known hits such as 'Running with the Devil', 'Hot For Teacher' and 'Jump', as well as some old material.

Scoffing at Jagger's comments in the video clip, Roth claimed there were no similarities between pop bands performing and not performing. “(The fans) want to hear '1984', So it would be pretty damn stupid for us to try to write new things that are not as half as good as our best work,” Roth continued. “Besides, Mick must be F'n joking! I mean, look at him! Man! He looks like he was dug up in fuckin’ Egypt.”

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen said the live show was taking place in England, “where people still want to hear us,” and is part of “performing again for the fans.” Van Halen added that the day the show opens, there will be a “weight of expectation” on their shoulders to actually get out of bed. The band bragged they had reunited mainly for the money, although they were also enjoying despising each other at close quarters again.

But Jagger retorted, “Bollocks!” to the Van Halen invite. “Them old geezers should be ashamed of themselves!”
