Background and context

The birth of babies is the most important factor contributing to the increase of populations around the world. The world population has experienced continuous growth since the end of the Black Death around the year 1400; the highest rates of growth—increases above 1.8% per year—were seen briefly during the 1950s, then for a longer period during the 1960s and 1970s. The growth rate peaked at 2.2% in 1963, and declined to 1.10% by 2009. Annual births have reduced to 140 million since their peak at 173 million in the late 1990s, and are expected to remain constant, while deaths number 57 million per year and are expected to increase to 90 million per year by 2050. Current projections show a steady decline in the population growth rate, with the population expected to reach between 8 and 10.5 billion between the year 2040 and 2050.

The rapid increase in human population over the course of the 20th century raises concern about whether Earth is experiencing overpopulation. The scientific consensus is that the current population expansion and accompanying increase in usage of resources are linked to threats to the ecosystem, such as rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, global warming, and pollution.

Should the human population continue to reproduce despite the risk of overpopulation?

Yes

Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT thinking pessimistically about the human race. This is damaging towards human progress. Human progress is all that matters.

No

Please be reasonable. If we don't mitigate human overpopulation, both the human population and the natural environment will suffer from it severely.

Does compulsory birth control violate one's rights?

Yes

All must stop violating basic human rights in the name of some greater good. Human progress is the only greater good.

No

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Compulsory birth control might be required in order to preserve both humanity and the environment.

Is global compulsory depopulation worse than the Holocaust?

Yes

It is the responsiblity[sic] of everyone to ensure human progress. Children represent the FUTURE of humankind. WE NEED MORE BABIES!

No

The Holocaust was a horrible mass slaughter of Jews. Compulsory depopulation need not imply any act of murder. While the Holocaust was a gruesome crime against humanity, population control is simply a necessity.

Is the destruction of the environment justified when it ensures human progress?

Yes

Humans are the MOST important beings on Earth and are SUPERIOR to all other living things.

ALL OF NATURE must be subdued. ALL OF THE FOREST CREATURES must be enslaved to serve mankind! All humankind must thrive!

Environmental damage DOESN'T MATTER! We must invent more weapons and technology so we can CONQUER SPACE!!

The environment and the remaning[sic] species of this planet should be immediately sacrificed if humankind can grow from it. Nothing is more important than human progress.

No

If you must insist on being a retard. Well, then you can go fuck yourself.
